Any idea what caused it? Wheeling? Gettin mud up in and around it? Why not try and get a shop to rebuild it, might be cheaper.

the shop said it was because of my sound system...but i didnt think it would do that...i do have alot of stuff running off my battery. HID's, 600 whatt amp with subs, a head unit, navi and a radar unit. but i still didnt think that would cause the problem

Yeah I agree.... isn't the alternator a 130A or something, maybe even more? I'd be pretty impressed if you had a stereo that big actually took it out. Were you running a capacitor? If you were then I damn near guarantee that it wasn't caused by your stereo. If you don't have one, get one. It will solve and problems that could be created by a high load due to your system, even your HID's and such.

RHT wanted like 300 for it and install, so he went to a local place, bought it cheaper, and put in on right behind their service center...lol

My dads alternator on his old 96 GMC went out about two or three times when he had it for an eight year period. He got it refurbished every time and it's a little cheaper. You just have to call around or check out the junkyard.
