Definitely agree. Tony definitely seems to have a car to look out for. And if him and Danica or Newman get hooked up (which they will I'm sure) they could very well win

Just had a thought. Drivers aren't allowed to talk to each other or others crews (even teammates) during the race anymore, but they can talk to their owner who can then talk to team cars; therefore, since Smoke is the owner, can he talk to Ryan and Danica?

Perhaps NASCAR has put in a caveat that he has to appoint a representative on the pit box?

The rules change so fast i'm wondering if they can't even talk to themselves.
Interesting point but i think smoke is DRIVING so he is a DRIVER, not the owner so i think that would be a no go.
As far as the duels, the drivers could be smart and just experiment a little and then just finish to be ready for the 500 or..........................
These cars are still to new to be playing the old games right now. They do move around a lot more and closing speeds are greater. Just get into the 500 and then let it out.

The driver's can talk to their spotters, and their crew chiefs. The spotters and crew chiefs can then talk to each other. If you want a message relayed to another driver, or want to work with one, you tell your spotter, he talks to the spotter of the driver you want to get with, and then the message is relayed. They have done it this way for years. It was not that long ago that drivers couldn't talk to each other. The new radio systems came in and you could talk to a select few (for instance your teammates) but Nascar stepped in recently and said no more. So remember for YEARS it was done just how they are going to do it now.

You have GOT to be kidding! Do you realize that she has been driving and racing competitively since she was 10 years old, and in a go cart? Not to mention her years at Indy, and let's not forget that just last year she finished her FULL 2012 Nascar Nationwide series in 10th place. The girl can handle it. If she didn't have the upper body to do this, Tony and Dale Jr would have never put her into a car.

1700 pound go kart with a 13 inch tire is way easier to handle than a 3500 pounder with 10 inch tire ,i was not kidding at all , she is a marketing money maker with a pretty face that's why stewart and jr got her in their cars ,mark it down she will not finish the 500 in one piece

Did you miss the rest of my post concerning the fact that she has the top ratings as a female in Indy car, as well as 10 in points in Nationwide where she drives a car nearly identical to the one she will be driving this year in Cup? And there are plenty fo great drivers who will not finish the 500 in one piece. Dale Sr has had a couple of DNFs in the Daytona 500. Are you going to say HE was not a great driver? I am beginning to feel that you are being a bit of a sexist here. Maybe I am wrong.

This ^^ Danica is a great driver. I don't care how good you look, nobody is gonna put someone in a car that they know can't handle it
And 1 that would just make them have to rebuild cars all the time. And 2 it would just be down right dangerous

Exactly. The publicity theory does not work well in Nascar, where the testosterone is higher than many other sports. These guys are NOT going to just roll over and "let" a girl do anything, just for publicity. These drivers are professionals, and they are going to treat her the same. I just hope her new bf Ricky can handle having a girl out there be better than him if it comes to that. lol.

not a sexist at all , and senior was the best ever to get behind the wheel / those open wheel indy cars are so different because of tire size and weight ratio , not denying her skills at all but the law of physics is this /it take's a lot of upper body strength to maneuver one of those cars around all day and my opinion is she does not have the physical size or strength to keep it together for the duration , if this season proves me wrong i like my crow with salt and peeper time will tell

AGAIN, do you not realize she just completed a FULL SEASON of Nationwide, and finished 10th in points? The cars between Nationwide and Sprint Cup are nearly identical. She has proven that she has the upper body strength and ability to run a full season. I have to admit this is sounding almost trollish here when you have 3 posts in Tacoma World, all 3 of them here, and nothing elsewhere. Perhaps I am wrong. I certainly hope so.

Yeah, she did finish there....And if you paid any attention whatsoever to the race, you would have known that her team and owner had her move to the back quickly to keep her car in one piece for the race. Lots of other drivers, and good ones, are having to go to backup cars that are not tested at this track. Before you open your mouth about things you don't seem to know anything about, why don't you actually look at ALL of the information and facts, and not just a single bit of info? and yes, it is now official, you are a troll.

I've read your posts and coming from another user on this site, you certainly are giving the impression of a sexist and a forum troll. Danica Patrick raced for many years full time in Indy Car. She then moved into the Nationwide series for a couple of years. Granted the Nationwide races aren't as long as the Premier "Sprint Cup" the car like already stated are almost identical in weight and horsepower. This will be her FIRST FULL SPRINT CUP SEASON yes, but she did also race in this series last year in quite a few races.

I for one hope she does well this year. She came in a best position of 4th last year. This year with teams sorting things out with their equipment she has a chance. Unlike other females who have "tried" racing in NASCAR she has been persistent, has the potential, and has shown she can be competitive.

And as far as her duel finish who cares? She already has the pole and the cars this season have had aero changes. Teams are still fine tuning the use of the fuel injection mapping also. Why go full race mindset and race trim in a non points race and risk blowing your engine or wrecking and going to a backup car.
