So, I've been reading up on the benefits of SS brake lines as they would apply to my truck and I'm left wondering why in Gods name would I waste the money on them instead of just getting 24" OEM brake lines and fittings. They last longer, are much cheaper to replace, easier to inspect and really, if I take a limb in the brake line, the SS ones will just pop at the fitting anyways. Or am I missing something?

 

Was thinking Carolla on Sunday since apparently we need permits for Hatteras still.

Let me know how much they cost. Are you getting a complete rebuild or just new gears?

 

New gears, around $1800

 

Ouch. You can get a complete new rebuild from ECGS for ~$1200 (with a deposite on your cores). You will have to install but from what I hear its very easy. Burry did his himself IRRC and Im sure between him and Ryan, we can get them in in less than 2 hours.

i wouldnt even bother gettin just gears installed. just easier to get a whole knew one and isntall your self. on the first gens. both are pretty easy. its the same for the rear on both 1st and 2nd gen. first is easier on the 1st gens. i would say tho, it will be more than 2 hours of work, but not too much. as long as someone doesnt have a lugnut fucked up on their truck
