question for you smart guys, is a cutting brake a decent, cheap substitute for a LSD?

So on a real topic.. My ebrake recently does not like to hold when fully pulled, Ir makes a noise and slips..

    Only when on a hill.

Should just cleaning the rear drums and adjusting the cable be all it needs?

You may want to just put a couple turns on the adjustment pawl for the rear shoes first...

Hey SD peeps. I thought I'd take a moment to say Hi and also reach out to see if anyone in my area may wanna lend a TW member a hand this weekend...

Bought some Bilstein 5100's from Down Sourh Motorsports. They will be here tomorrow. I haven't had my 2013 long and have done zero to it so far. I have replaced my struts on my 99 tacoma 4x4 way back when. I did my 04 Audi last year w Bilstein sports. PITA job. Damn Audi... I have all the tools and a garage and beer /pizza . Was wondering if anyone in the north county area may have done 5100's on 2nd gen and may wanna lend a hand w the fronts as my first time under this beast.

I thought there may be a howto w torque specs n all but have yet to find it. So reaching out... Lemme know . Thx

Not in N. county but it's not hard if you've done them before, are you using a spring compressor or the floor jack-lowering/raising LCA method ??

Shoulda hired me when you had the chance! You probably though I wasnt good enough, lol.

No....a locker is a great substitute for an LSD though..

Try to tighten the rear drums first and if not gonna have to pull the rear brakes apart and remove the glazing..

I can do it next week if you need help, very fair pricing and it will be done correctly the first time.

Never pulled this much weight for 100 miles before in the Taco! Good thing I have a 5.7 V8, a 6 speed trans and 3.90 rear gears!!!

I planned on just renting a compressor (free) from autozone. I guess I can pick up a Hayes manual. I just didnt know torque specs and all. I am a torque spec kinda guy and figured someone else had that knowledge.

I'm not worried about it. I'm not a super gear head, but like I said I did all 4 on my audi and did my 99 tacoma, oh and my 99 civic I installed tokiko's and skunkworks coilovers on that. I gotta replace my timing belts on my ducati this weekend too, so I'll make it a garage day and hammer both out.

What? You didnt know I have a drivetrain from a 2001 Camaro SS under the hood? Well, I do, lol.

She has an LS1 under the hood, about 330 rwhp at the moment, will be over 600 by the end of the year (turbo)

And Yeah some stock Tacos will see me and think they can do it too...:p

My wife is on her vacation kick again. Her and her family think a perfect vacation is where you do absolutly nothing for a week. They don't drink, no sports, nothing just sit and do nothing. They also think the Hawaii is the greastest place in the world and almost talk down to me because I am kinda MEH on Hawaii.

Wish me luck trying to explain to my wife who acts like she gonna get caught if she does anything pg13 with her parents around that I don't liike to sit still and stare at the ocean I sailed on for 5 years and if I do, I would like a drink in my hand and that will only work so long with an investment banker and a stay at home mom since 1983 who is now a health nut yoga instructor to talk to.

    Rant over I feel better.
