Looks like its something else. New start cartridge didn't help.

I'll open it up and follow some of the troubleshooting tips.

hopefully gonna finish it during this week and paint it over the weekend

Wow I've been running my TD for 8 years, only problems I've ever had were compressor related. You said you swapped all of the consumables?

Stopped by Alliance today and dropped the unit off. These guys are one of my favorite shops. Great sense of humor and really good customer service. Tech recognized the unit (it's had torch problems before). Anyway, he tried cutting stuff which didn't work so well. Same deal. Pilot arc but never arc start. For grins and giggles, he cut the ground clamp about half way through before the arc gave up. Could be grounding. Might also have something to do with air pressure-the gauge says "60" but he doesn't think that much air is coming out of it.

They're going to talk to Thermal Dynamics tomorrow. Should have an answer by the end of the week.

    That was quick.

All fixed and cutting like a champ. New ground clamp (from yesterday's test cut) and some internal parts.

    Was it a grounding issue?

There were a couple of things. Grounding could easily have been one of them-I think the demonstration of that is the failure of the arc transfer when cutting the ground clamp

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
Everyone that has a draw type tubing benders knows all about mild steel galling when it bends. I fucking hate it! we strive to produce clean bends and have done everything to try to prevent the tube galling up. Every type of lube out there and over time it starts to gall again. i have found a few lubes that work for a wile but not long enough for my taste. I polish the follow block about every 15 to 20 bends and i got sick of it.

So I've been doing a little thinking and came up with this.

It's 1/4" plate wrapped around the 1.75" SWAG roller dies. I've seen that some of the higher end benders have this type of follow so i thought I'd give it a try and I'm glad i did.

I forgot to add that my bender is full Hydro you guys still bending manual or with a air over hydro might not have a galling issue "I didn't when it was manual" now I'm doing 90 degree bends in about 8 to 10 sec so the tube gets warm.

It's not really a baller bender it's just a JMR manual converted to electric hydro it's looks like frankenstein but works like a champ!
