Just because there is a metal bar on my truck doesnt mean you can hit it

some lots around me say "patrolled by NYPD" so who knows. i know they handle speeding.

In a certain part of NJ ive been to they painted parking spots on regular streets to keep people from blocking the many driveway entrances on the block.
if youre out of the line you will get a ticket just as if you blocked a driveway (no parking zone). the driveways lead behind houses that can park like 4 cars each so if they get blocked you really screw a few people.

A parking lot and parking spaces on a street are 2 different animals. But i see what you are saying.

So at work you are the Supreme One and can park how ever you feel like it?

Again - the picture shows no movement and you have yet to prove that you are not at fault in the damages sustained in this very unfortunate mishap - Nobody HIT anybody.

Go buy a box of tissues, go home , curl up in bed and cry yourself to sleep. In time you will be able to look beyond this day and get on with your life.

If the spaces are too small for a truck are you suggesting to buy another vehicle to properly fit in the tiny ass spots?

So because someone couldnt measure out spaces properly for one of the very most common sized vehicles on the road, he is suppose to buy a compact car to suit his parking needs?

parking space sizes are determined by the development code for each state/city/county.

Apparently the OP believes he does not need to extend any but yet requires all before him to give unto him - dodo

If my truck does not fit in the parking space. I park at the back of the row so that all other cars that can fit, can park in the spaces towards the front. Go to any store and you will see Semis, dump trucks, school buses, and other large vehicles all park towards the back. It is called courtesy. Just because you truck does not fit, does not mean you own the parking lot.

As far as the OP is concerned, while I agree the other person is a jerk. Not knowing the full details, I cannot say who is in the wrong. Maybe the other person is handicap, this is the closest spot and that just the car rolling when they let off the brake. I would think if there was any real speed to that incident, their car would be damaged.

    I would move on.

WTF is it with people today, ok OP is over the line, so what. Does not give anyone the right to damage his truck. The point of this thread really is, the people have no respect for other people's property. Which is sad.

    Legit question, not butthurt.
Seems like the spaces at my work get narrower the closer you get to the building. You think there are codes for that or is it just perception?

    mostly yes.

for X square footage of a private building's public use space (if you are a business),
Y spaces are required with Z handicapped accessible spaces. and sometimes you also
need N number of: HOV, electric, carpooling spaces too, depending on local ordinance.

    ----------
as I said...my sig is the ultimate violation, but office honester, i was only parking for 2 minutes :D

My take on this thing is: fit in, and conform to societal norms, and don't be a dink. fit inside the painted space
or park somewhere else. everyone else can fit in one space, so try to do the same and join with your motoring peers
and don't be a careless knob parking any old which way. let the arse of the truck hang out the unpainted section.
there are rules and unwritten rules and everyone knows what is right, but if you keep choosing to 'not fit in' and 'do
whatever the hell' then -you- are the oddball, not the people calling you out on it

and yes yes yes do your best not to scratch up anyone else property. that is a societal norm and a
given, despite my joking comment otherwise :D

if this happened to me i would have come out of the store or whatever and said "what a dick", looked for damage, and either
    A) threw my hands in the air and said "WTF! Look what he did!" and drove away or
    B) I woulda saw no damage and said "WTF! he almost damaged my truck!" and drove away.

any talk of retribution by doing anything to his vehicle is nonsense.

i once had some knuckle head move from the center lane to the right lane going around Columbus Circle (just like the Big Ben circle in Eng) and he basically caused his passenger corner bumper to smear down the side of my truck from my door to the rear wheel.

I got out cursing. looked at the white paint on my black truck and was mad!
I called the police and waited. the guy was in a panic cause he new it would cost him not only a ticket, but added insurance cost, blah blah blah. He starts "its not a big deal, it will buff right out".
I said A) Im not paying to have it buffed. B) If its so easy you do it.

There werent any dents or anything, just that transfer of paint from his to mine.

So he went into the gas station on the corner, got a can of Turtle Wax and literally buffed it out by hand. All but one small spot half the size of pencil eraser came out. It really was "buff right out". Black is awful at seeing every little mark.
Still pissed off i told the guy thats bullshit i have this blemish on my truck cause his stupidity. To which he pointed out 2-3 other blemishes on the same side. what can you say? "Yeah well i did those to my OWN truck so they are ok".

I told the guy give me 100 bucks so i can have the truck buffed to match the parts he buffed by hand and we'll call it even. I had like 1/4 of a polished truck.
15 mins after calling the cops they still arent there so i called them back and said forget it and told the guy to be more careful and left.

    Moral of this story?
Im bored at work and stuck here til 3

    but yeah..... get over it.

agreed. i always say to myself "someone is going to get pissed and key that car" or "some nut is going to lose it one day and smash that guys truck" and go find another spot where i fit.

i make it a point to park in the lines and straight cause i dont want to come out and see some 17 year old kid was pissed i was too close to the line and run a screw driver down the lenght of my truck to "teach me a lesson".
