I personally love watching the new arrivals of CA folks. Pretty trucks, big shiny rims, 4x4 engaged hauling 70mph through a snowstorm and then the light turns red...

eh, I'm from TX and I can drive on snow and ice just fine.

Most don't realize that it does snow in TX, and when it does snow it always melts immediately and turns to ice. Therefore, most people in TX know what the fluffy white stuff is and have driven on it plenty of times to know that it's very slippery. I can't speak for what the weather is like in CA, but I don't think this issue has anything to do with native or not. People are just in too much of a damn hurry and lack common sense. I saw a lady driving yesterday at lunch and she was talking on the phone while putting on some eye makup of some sort while driving on a snow covered road. Doesn't matter where you're from, stupid people are everywhere!

I get up and go to work super early when it snows (before the roads get plowed) just so that I don't have to drive with all the other idiots out there.

I get up and go in early on snow days because I like having the corners to myself with fresh powder :)

So many damn buttons on these 2nd gens to turn off all the nannies so you can play in the snow though.

I had never ridden in my wife's car with her driving on snow/ice before a couple nights ago. She doesn't know it yet, but I'm taking her to a parking lot next big snow to teach her how to drive on the white stuff.

Scared the crap outta me and her little car doesn't have an 'oh shit' handle!

I'd say 3/5 cars rolled over in ditches have native stickers on the car some where. It makes me laugh. Or the car driving with hazards on most likely native sticker. It rains here and omg people can't drive. Where I lived outside of Pittsburgh you would have to rock your car out of ice rutts just to get off the ramps on the highway.

One thing I will say (and this has nothing to do with snow, but driving in general) when I've driven in the midwest I've seen something that I've NEVER seen here. Two lane highways everywhere... and people all drive in the right hand lane. If they come up on someone they are driving faster than, they move to the left lane, pass, and get back in the right lane. Dropped my jaw the first time I witnessed it.

It was kind of like a unicorn. Sounds cool as hell, would probably be really neat, but you'll never see it in your life because it just doesn't exist. Well it does exist, just not here.

I don't understand why people put in their flashers while driving. Yes, I'm aware it's snowing. I see a lot of people do it when it's dry out and traffic suddenly stops. I'm too busy slamming on the brakes and planning out possible moves rather than slapping a button in my dash.

That be the truth Tex. :)

You has a new screen name. :D
I like my 2007 OR. No nanny buttons!
Actually I like when people do this and I myself do this. So many people do not have depth perception or drive in " tunnel vision". The flashers wake them up before they rear end me. :)

They actually enforce the law out there about not hanging out in the left lane. Spend too long in the wrong lane and you'll see some cherries and a nice uniformed individual will explain to you why you're being a dick.

This only applies outside big cities though, within city limits, those same highways turn into 2 lines of non moving gridlock and bumper car rules take over.

Someone from Wyoming who doesn't feel safe driving in Colorado. Now THAT is hilarous! Is it the fact that we all do speeds approaching & in rare cases exceeding 55mph? If I had a nickel every time I got stuck behind Wyoming plates on I25 doing 10-15mph UNDER the speed limit in the LEFT lane I'd have retirement money.

I dont like gramps coming up with all our new nicknames!!!!!

Best part of my drive yesterday was pulling into the parking lot and drifting into my parking spot!!! i want a massive storm to keep all the non snow drivers off the roads so i can have a normal drive to work.

I want to say it was about 12 years ago....
We had a pretty good snowstorm (I think the broncos were stranded at DIA or something) and I had a '69 Bronco lifted on 33s.
Drove I-25 from Longmont to 270 without seeing a single person on the highway.
Fresh tracks in a foot and a half of powder on the road.
    THAT was fun.

So if Gramps is a young whippersnapper compared to some of us here, how exactly did he get the name Gramps in the first place, and what does that make his elders?

That would be lovely. Unfortunately the pathetic cloud base coming over the hills isn't promising anything of value.
