Had no issues whatsoever with my Dunlops. Got 38,500 on 'em now and probably will get another 5k or so. Only rotated them once. I don't offroad much but these are fine for a road driven daily driver, even in the occasional snow. I am probably going to replace them with Michelin LTX M&S, had them before and liked them a lot. But the Dunlops served just fine as an OEM tire for me.

I've had my stock rugged fails in deep soft sand at Sandy beach and had no problems. The only time I had a problem with them is when I was stuck in traffic on the freeway in a light rain, and tried to change lanes from a dead stop. I lit up the back tires with just a little throttle. It was like driving on ice.

Just wanted to say the x-ice 2's are awesome. I backed down an ice incline over the weekend in 2wd, no weight. Stopped without any sliding, and got started without any trouble (it was sheer ice, guessing ~18 degree angle). Had I had the "Rugged Trails" I'd have been stuck or possibly been able to get out with 4WD. Glad I made the switch.

Wrapping a garden hose around the rim would provide a better driving experience than the Dunflops. Dangerous tires, insane they put them on trucks they charge over $30,000 for.

My 2007 came with the Dunflops in 245/75R16 and I will echo that they are a garbage tire. I do not off road, my use is 99% on pavement. The first winter, they did fine because they were brand new. The second winter was boarder-line scary and I wouldn't go into the 3rd winter with them. They had 30k miles on them when I got rid of them (only waited that long due to money) and the wet and snow traction was horrible for the last 10k miles of that.

I now have a set of OEM take offs that are the Bridgestone Dueler H/T 684 II in 265/65R17 and I really like them. They're quiet and seem to have all around good traction for a highway tire. They've seen a pretty good amount of snow this year and performed well so far. They are a LOT better than the factory Dunlops that came on the truck.

I've got the Bridgestone Duelers 265/65/17 and I gotta admit, I am not really impressed by them in the snow. The picture doesnt really do it justice, but this is a fairly steep driveway, had it in 4 wheel and it just lost traction and slid off the side without warning. I was stuck there for a few minutes trying to get out, had to do a little digging with my boots to help. :( [IMG]

Stock reg cab 4x4 manual, dunlop tires, 31k miles, just had them measured at 4/32" left, so basically bald. Was in the snowstorm in St Louis today, they really surprised me. I had no issues getting around in 5+ inches of snow. Got stuck behind some car on a steep hill and had to stop. Got started again no problem. Based on the reputation from these forums I expected to be in a ditch, but I was amazed. I still plan on replacing them this summer, but I'm not worried about the snow as much now.

I appear to have a different experience with my stock tires than a lot of owners here. I live in Seattle area so we get a lot of rain and my former car experience prior to the purchase of my 2013 Tacoma has been Subaru's with AWD for the last 3 cars so that is what I am comparing my experience to.

In the rain I have had a pretty good experience, not as good as my Subaru's but then I was not in 4x4 and it has a really light back end compared to a car. I am happy with the stock wheels so far.

Now once I start to go off road I will want to replace them and I have yet to drive in snow so I cannot speak to those conditions.

I agree. My truck came with the Dunlops. I called a tire dealer friend that I trust, and after doing some research he told me they were excellent tires for wear life, road noise, and wet traction. I tried them in the snow last week and in 4WD I never spun a tire. As an older guy who doen't do to much off roading, they are excellent tires for my truck.

Got the Dunlop radial AT 20 with my 2013 TRD Sport and they are great so far.

Here's a pic of the Taco in some snowy conditions. Never slipped once in 2WD.

Have the BF Goodrich AT on my 2010 with 22,000 miles. These tires behave like ice skates on wet pavement. If I go into a moderate turn without concern for the ass of the truck, it will start to gently yaw out. I've owned Tacomas before, so I know it's not the light rear that's the issue.

I just bought Firestone ATs to swap out on Monday. I waited too long...the OE tires are just flat-out crap. But that's ok...honestly I didn't expect anything better. No car company puts expensive tires on a new car. That would be adding significant cost to build the car and wouldn't add anything to the market value. Most drivers don't know sh*t about tires...posters on this site are an incredible minority that actually know the difference between how a quality tire rides vs. a really thick rubber band wrapped around a wheel.
