Hey guys I'm having issues with my 2009 taco. 3 days ago while driving around town my low fuel light came on after driving several miles with the light on I started to feel a little rough/hesitation shake coming from my engine, it started to feel like I was going to run out of fuel. I made it to the gas station and filled the tank, however the rough/missing feeling coming from the engine is still there. A brief history on my fuel habits, since day one I have always used 87octane fuel and never had any issues this is my 8th Toyota vehicle in 25years and have gotten used to the valve ticking noise in the engine and have attributed it to the Toyota motors. This noise was also on my taco for over 2 years I filled it with 93 octane the time before my light came on and the ticking noise stopped almost immediately. I don't have the noise anymore but the motor is riding very rough during acceleration. I think my filter might be clogged from running low but after reading the forum the filter is inside the tank any suggestions on what to do?

i would think you would have a filter somewhere along the frame. crawl under and trace the fuel line. sounds like a clogged filter. the tank filters i have seen have usually been a fish net type material to protect the fuel pump from ingesting anything too large. but who knows. maybe someone with more experience will come along who knows.

No, there is no filter except in the tank. Put some gas dryer in the tank and run that for a while and see if it goes away.

Thanks,, by dryer do you mean like a additive to the gas? Or fuel injector cleaner stuff?

I added gas dry to the tank and topped off with 93 octane gas lets see if it helps

Well today I went and had my truck serviced and the mechanic checked out the truck and turns out my coil on cylinder 1 was bad, I had it replaced and it seems to be working lets see if any more issues arise.
