I found it easier to just take the badges off and paint mine. Just mask off the surrounding area so you know where they go when you put them back on.

Ahhh that was probably it. I would say it was maybe in the mid 40s outside when I did it. I was only backed into my garage with the door open while I was doing it. On a different note I have my 2 side "TACOMA" badges off and I have spent a couple hours this morning preping and just put the first coat of paint on em. If these 2 turn out ok then I will tackle the tailgate emblems later.

ill be dipping my flares tomorow, my front bumper, possibly my hood, and i might redo my rear bumper because my hardcore off roading a few weeks ago peeled a bit off and it could use a new job.

i already have my rear bumper obv as i just said, my wheels, gas door. contemplating doing the whole truck but im unsure how to get the back of the cab inbetween the bed.

Subbing and doing my emblems and possibly wheels this weekend.

I know this is probably somewhere in this thread, but what do you have to do special if you want to do the front bumper like I see so many people do? Those are painted, not chrome.

For those of you that have done the lower bumper valance -- what's the best way to tape it off? Will the dip separate at the body line or does it need to be cut with a razor or something or what?

I masked it with paper and painters tape. And used a light razor touch to separate the Plastidip. They say you could remove the masking before it dries but I haven't tried that

Did you tape right up to the body line though or did you leave some room around it like when you do emblems?

I have always done a quick 3-5 coats about 1-2 min apart. Then peel RIGHT AWAY.

It will give it a very clean line. If you feel that you need to do more coats or missed a few spots then wait 24 hours and tape and spray again.

Haha you mean on the sides of the valance, the part that stays white right? For that, I used small pieces of painters tape to make the curve and a big piece over them. So ya I taped all the way up to the body line
