I'd rather an FJ40 or an FJ60. It's just too much money and too much time that I don't have :(. I'd love to fix it, but I just can't right now. I don't want her to sit and rust out. She deserves a capable owner.

Morning. Just got up to Maine, left at 5 this morning. Good times.

Looks like everyone had a good time yesterday. Wish I could have gone. Instead I spent the day fixing the exhaust on Shan's car and took the dog for a bath

What's her take on blowing, just to be thorough.

Parking the Komatsu could be an issue. If I had a longer driveway I'd look into a beater plow truck but the snow blower does fine for the amount of snow we get. Still tough to beat a heated cab...

Johnny got to play with his new toys? :D

Do any of you guys know what that yellow crap is that's under the oil filler cap? I've always had it but my last few oil changes it's been a lot worse. I've read about it on here and everyone says it's from doing short trips and not getting the engine up to temperature but, for me, that's not the case. I drive 25 miles each way to work so I know it's getting up to temperature. The oil seems fine when I drain it (not milky) so I don't think it's anti-freeze getting in the oil. Is it really just condensation? Any way to prevent it?

So you're saying he was using the strap on excessively?

^^^ Mike, that is from the condensation that we get in the motor when it's hot then cools quickly. There is nothing we can really do about it in the area we live at this time of year. It's just gonna happen. It should look much better in the summer months.

Do you think an insulated sleeve for the oil filler neck help?

He had it all stretched out and ready to rock before he even showed up to the party. He hid most of it under his tonneau cover. I equate that to a creepy dude with a strap on and a trench coat just waiting to whip it out on some poor unsuspecting vehicle.

My oil cap has the same thing, but I do have some quick trips. Seems very common on these trucks from everything I've read on here. Are you worried about it doing damage?

John used the strap then took it off immediately. He's smart.

With it built up so much, I'm just worried about it oozing back into the crank case. There's always been a little bit present but the last few oil changes were the worst I can ever remember. I can't imagine it being good if that thick sludgy crap oozes back down into the case, or will it just liquify again and mix with the oil?

Look into oil catch cans. That'll cure what ails you!

Also is there something I'm not privy to about keeping a strap on?

Ya know, I was looking at them earlier this year and decided not to do it (seemed more beneficial for boosted applications). How does the catch can cure this issue though? I thought the catch can just caught oil that made it through the PCV valve and prevented it from being shot into the intake, I'm not following how it'll help with gunky build up in the filler cap
