A bumper here, some tires there..... you know, stuff.
i'm going to agree with jace on this travis. i would say go with a selectable locker and figure out if you are going to go 35's or not before hand.

take this with a grain of salt, but if i were you i would figure out the tire situation and get those first (33's). but if i was going to go with 35's i'd wait and save to do everything at once

Since you have the auto trans, you may bump up to 35's and not feel the need to regear. It'll really just depend on your driving style. If you had a manual trans, then yeah no question you'd need to. I've survived a trip to moab, several wheeling adventures, and a full year of pavement pounding with the stock gearing and don't feel that I need to regear. Sure, I'm not going to win any races from a stop light, but I don't mind the power loss as it doesn't seem that bad to me. If your that unsure regarding the gearing and tire size decision, I'd be more than happy to let you take a trip around the block in mine so you'll know how it'll be like with the stock gearing and 35s.

If you must get a locker, get a selectable as that is the only way it will be truly predictable.

For the amount that it will cost to regear and put in lockers, I can just buy a dedicated trail rig to beat on. My list of mods for the limo is getting shorter since I've decided to go that route. The taco will just have to suffice for a few more years though until I can do that, haha.

Yeah, I think it is the 3.73 gears. I really don't know what to do man. I have about 2000 that I can spend, not counting tires. I have most of the armor that I need figured out But my truck still needs lots of stuff, so I guess I just don't know what to do next. A locker seemed like the logical next step, but I had no idea it was going to either be that expensive, or change the behavior of the truck that much. And as far as the behavior goes, I am getting mixed information.

IMO, I say first figure out what size tires you are going to run. Then worry bout the other stuff. I also say wait till you've wheeled it a bit so you can make a more informed decision before you drop big coin on something and then wish you had done it differently.

what r the chances of finding a wrecked trd rear end???? for cheaper than the arb install?

honestly man, you can do alot of off roding open/open. you still need rear bumper, winch and skids right? what about getting those, so u are able to recover yourself if u do get stuck? in the meantime, figure out tire size you want and what locker route you wanna go? id rather have armor than a locker honestly....

w/ a locker you are jut gonna get into situations where you NEED armor

i have a solution to all of your problems travis!

    step 1- load up skids
step 2- drive them over here
    step 3- prime skids
step 4- drink beer to keep your mind from spinning thinking about a locker/gears/tires
    step 5- paint skids
    step 6- repeat step 4
    step 7- paint another coat

    repeat step 4 as necessary......

another good point^ Travis your kinda new to the scene, hang out a bit and ask questions about other peoples trucks. (moab is perfect for this lol) then make a good decision on mods.... id be willing to bet alot of people wish they hadnt bought or done something early later down the road....

but make sure you put the skids on the truck before you repeat step 4 too many times :D

You guys are brilliant! I have skids, just need to paint them and put em on. Maybe I just get really good tires and figure out a rear bumper so that I am protected from damage at Moab, and I can make some more informed decisions after talking to people there.

It's weird, having Money to actually do mods has made life miserable trying to figure out what to do. It was easier when I was just dreaming but not having money to do anything.

I started to do that, but I a surrounded by huge whiteboards at work and thought if I had one at home I would go fucking crazy. Oh man, now I am looking at cbi and I can get rid of that pesky money quick here. I even called them and they have bushmasters in stock, no wait time.
