I used my 55-200 lens for the first time last night. Is it normal that it makes noise and click-click when auto focusing? My 18-55 makes no sound at all.

I felt like I was going to fall backwards.

Then I felt like I was about to fall forwards.

Great stuff, one of the instances I would have had a strap around my neck is that last one. That'd be an expensive oops. . .

I've used that lens before and don't remember hearing anything when auto focusing.

Does the ring rotate when it auto focuses? You may have had a finger on it preventing it from spinning if it does.

I finally got my hands on the new 27" i-Mac and wanted to ask some of you post-processing wizards out there about software. Which would you pick between Lightroom 4 and Aperature, and why? Also, are there any other "must haves" for post work?

    This.

You can start out with just LR and get a lot done. Some stuff is easier in LR but PS is almost required for other, more complicated stuff-for me, layers are a lot easier to deal with in PS as an example.

Also, LR & PS are pretty much standard. If you need/want to do something, you can almost always find someone to help or a youtube video to walk you through doing something.

x2 on Lightroom. I'm a noob to photography and it is plenty for me. I haven't used photoshop for several years so I can't really comment on what that is like nowadays.

I've been using Picasa on my laptop until LR and boy what a difference haha

I know a lot of you guys are on full frames but anyone following the D7100 release? Seems to be nudging closer to FX specs while still being a consumer DX. I'm going to keep my eye on it :)

I have a D7000 and am quite happy with it. If the quality of the D7100 is up to par with it I'm sure everyone will be happy.

I however am hoping for a D400

It's basically the 7000 with the newest features. IMO definitely not worth it to bump up from a 7000 to a 7100, next step there would be full frame. But for those shooting anything from 3100-5100 who want to step up a notch, definitely a good choice.

Good luck with that 400 ha
