Im looking at buying myself a new Honda Rubicon soon was concerned about it fitting in the bed of my truck since I dont have a trailor at the moment. I have googled and found pics that tell me that it WILL fit, not perfect..... but I could get by with the tail gate open. My question is, has anyone ever tried to use some car ramps like the kind you drive up on in your Camry to change the oil in your drive way? Ya know like set the ramps in the front of the bed of the truck and drive the 4 wheeler up them to raise the front end and give you more clearance between the front rack and the rear glass? Seems like it may give me a couple more inches or so of clearance...... You guys got anymore tips or tricks that could help out with this? Im open....

I have seen something like that done. I usually just roll with the tailgate open when my banshee is in the back. It still fits between the wheel wells even with long travel on the front. In short, yes you can use some style of ramp to get the front higher and further up in the bed.

I don't know about that. If the breaks fail or the tie downs break your quad will fall right out unless your trying to get it up enough to close the tail gate

All I did was buy a small 400 dollar trailer from tractor supply to haul it around. Fits my big can am perfectly and I can up two dirt bikes on there. Hell of a lot easier than trashing the bed of my truck with mud.

If your tie downs break then you weren't using them correctly of they were way too small for the job. i've hauled motorcycles plenty of times and the straps are the ONLY thing holding it in. NEVER rely on the brakes to hold a load.

OP, make sure you don't put the front end through the rear window when you load the ATV. As far as ramps, I wouldn't think they'd be needed since the wheel wells are in the front of the short bed so the front end of the ATV will be angled up anyways. Just find a 2x6 or 2x8 to drop into the slots over the wheel wells (that's what those notches are for) and it'll hold the front end of the ATV up. Again, be careful loading, the front bumper of the ATV might hit the glass before the tires hit the front of the bed. Lots of people use pieces of wood as stops so they don't accidentally break their windows.

I put my foreman 4x4 in the back all the time. Just ride with tailgate down. My tires hit the bed before the bumper.

Good info so far in this thread I appreciate this guys.

Drew, what size tires are you running? Im sure that would make a difference in what reaches the front first. I dont plan to buy the upgraded tires and wheels when I buy my Rubicon. I figured the dealer marks that crap up way too much and I could just save a load of dough and buy em later when my stockers wear out. The only thing I plan to add to the purchase is a winch, to me that is a MUST HAVE, all the other add ons can come later and not from the dealer.

My Kawasaki Bayou fits. I use a 12' aluminum extension ladder from home depot ~ $40. Take it apart - you have 2 six foot ramps. They store under the quad even w/ the open tailgate.

    No problem.

I stand a 20oz Coke crate (plastic) on its edge against the front of the bed of the truck, load my quad normally, secure with two tie down against the Coke crate. That crate keeps the bumper off my back glass. Make any sense, if not ill snap a pic.
