Interesting. This is the first i've heard of this. I'll have to try it out and see if it is that bad. I do know that bx-25s are the best, just couldn't find any of them.

I have about 10 of the BX 25's and 3 of them work flawlessly. I have 2 tac sol mags and they work about like the bx25. I ordered two of the HCR mags because they say they have a stronger spring. they were 39.95 not 100.00. so we shall see.

Brand new volquartsen extractor, went to the range and fired 200 rounds, started cleaning it and saw this. Any ideas what could be causing this? Should I get a replacement? Wearing down pretty bad...

Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.
Looks like its hitting something in the extractor groove in your barrel. Or perhaps extractor groove is not machined for this type of extractor?

With out seeing in person it's hard to say, but I'd guess the groove in the barrel was/is not lined up with the extractor, brand should not matter.

interesting. I just remembered that when I was installing my new barrel I had to make sure and line up the extractor just right into the groove that is in the barrel.

What are you referring to? That extractor looks exactly as it should. That bevel is there to improve feeding. It looked just like that when you installed it.

I read back through, Sorry I missed that. The VC exact edge is a nice extractor, I put them in all my competition builds. The biggest advantage you will see with this extractor is that it will eject unfired rounds from the gun every time where the factory extractor will not. For those who may think this is not a big deal, it gives you the ability to eject a dud round from the gun with a quick cycle of the charging handle vs having to dig a dud out with a knife which would be a match killer. Also lets you eject that last round to clear your firearm at the end of a stage. Those who have the factory extractor will fequently shoot their chambered round to clear it. Well worth the $.

Well, just ordered a KIDD charging handle, trigger spring kit, and Volquartsen mag release. Finally get to shoot the 10/22 this weekend. My finish is starting to flake on the receiver, so I'm thinking I'll strip the whole thing and then polish and clear coat it.
