    A picture would help.

It sounds like the bottom of the antenna is still in the truck. Try unscrewing what's left in the truck. once that's out you'll have threads into which you can install a replacement. Since you have to buy a new one anyway, get yourself a shorty antenna.

maybe the threaded part broke off in the base. Is there a hole in the base that looks like the antenna went in there?

If so, you might have to get some of those easy-outs.

if it's broke in the hole looks like you may have to drill it out. Not a big deal, the metal is pretty soft.

Trying taking the fender well liner out & see if you can get to it. You may be able to pull the cable thru from the cab from there then just undo it from the fender. Not sure how much room to work you may have. My older yota pick had enough to do it without removing fender.

I would try to hammer a small flat head screwdriver in there to form a slot and then unscrew it.

    +1

If the base isn't damaged there's no point in replacing it. You can usually tap a line like he said, or even get a el cheapo philips you don't care about and tap that bad boy onto the broken antenna threads to screw it out.

Did any of these suggestions work?

Mine snapped off in the base yesterday. I have no way to get to the threaded end as it is in the base.

That's what I get for being lazy a couple of times and not taking the time to jump out of my truck and unscrew the antenna.

I hate to drill it as I am afraid I'll mess up the threads in the base.

    Thanks!

I was a bit hesitant to bang on the screw, but once I found a flat tip that was narrow enough to get into the mount it was no sweat.

Broke my antenna assembly. Had it replaced for about $110.00 with a power antenna. Works great. Best Buy did the install and even found the antenna trigger on the stock radio. All in All one of the best mods i've done.
