Wow, Icon's def getting the 3rd degree.........

I first got interested in Icon coilovers before I even bought my tacoma and lurked on TTORA nightly. Back then (2004) "hoes" and Camburg were the only OEM replacement coilovers offered to us and those guys beat the crap out of suspension. Those 2 companies would battle back and forth for 1,000 pages about differences in shocks.

IMHO, Icon goes the extra mile for us and R&D's the shit out of their products for OEM replacement and not just race suspension made to fit for OEM purposes. Yes, you can buy race truck suspension and do all the tuning and adjustments you want but 9 out of 10 OEM users would rather slap a high quality shock on our trucks and beat it up every weekend without thinking about it.

I was on vacation in Cali and picked up my coilovers from a TW member. I was in the area and decided to cruise by Icon to have the nitrogen recharged and get some stickers. I met Brad and he took me around the shop and had the shocks hooked up for me. A few weeks later I broke one of the top hats and they sent new ones overnight without question. As pissed as I was they broke, I was more than thrilled that for the 2nd time Icon took care of me knowing I had used coilovers with over 30k miles on them I didn't even purchase from them....and I had the part less than 12hrs later! Apparently theses were from an older batch that had sub-par top hats (I also had them cranked to 3.5") but it was an example to them earning my business yet again.

Im looking forward to the technical info from them but let them do a formal release before everyone crawls up their ass. The CDC's will be my next purchase as they sound VERY promising and are reasonably priced.....they'll prob have them for the rear soon too! :D

That's a third degree? Asking basic fucking shock questions? You must have had quite the charmed childhood.

You guys are funny. It's not like ICON is a brand new shock company and hasn't had time to draw up an exploded view, and I'm not talking about there brand new CDC. ICON itself has been around since..what 2008? And before that, DR was around for how long?

Damn man......you seem so angry in half of your posts! Yes, they're the same company as Donahoe Racing and have been around for quite some time. Maybe you need to speak to Dylan directly about these specifics or maybe you deep down REALLY want to run Icon's but just have to know all the ins and outs in order to justify it to yourself? ;)

    Just a thought?

Go with a 2.5" diameter shock!

I think the point is nobody should have to get on a first name basis with "Dylan" to be able to find out specifics. I dont know anybody at King but I can still find information on them

Yes yes, I'm an angry person by nature.

I guess "questioning" makes me abnormal rather than just automatically drinking the coolaid like a sheep like the rest of the cronies do. And what you see as "specifics" are public and normal details for other vendors. Go ahead, hop on ICON's website and try to find a rebuild kit.

And yes, as an enthusiast, I'm ALWAYS on the lookout for the next best thing regardless of manufacture. And you're damn right I'm not going to buy something without knowing details.

Being mature about it...maybe you should reread what I wrote? I didn't call anyone a name. I said I'm not "drinking the coolaid like a sheep like the rest of the cronies do."

If you took offense to that, I apologize but I chose the words that best fit the description.

Sheep = Someone who mindlessly follows and emulates anything and everything
    Cronies = Chums, pals, bros

Yes, see his avatar. But seriously why can normal joe blow tell you about king/fox/saw but icon everything is a secret? Its kind of like the emperors new clothes. Everyone says they are special because everyone else says they are special, yet nobody can seem to say why. Its not bashing Icon, the same question goes to King, why do your bump stops cost almost double a Fox bump stop?

Because they have a cool nut to keep them attached to the can instead of pinch cans!
Yeah I'm with you...fox bumps, simply because of price.

Do you work for ICON? If you do you're not representing the company in a very professional manner. Doubt your superiors would be very pleased about your lack of restraint

Your avatar leads to believe otherwise. Okay, so why jump in on the defensive? The shoe fits?

As a business owner myself, I need to hear both positives and negatives about my operation. The issues regarding icon that's being discussed is not us(mainly Jason) taking pot shots at them...its information that the consumers want to know. If icon supplies said info they may gain business...even from angry Jason.
I would hope they (icon) sees this as a positive. Feedback from us may enable them to produce, or supply us with info, products that can boost their sales and support.
I met with icon at the Pomona show and they really do have some fantastic products and ideas...but if they don't release the info on em we will continue to purchase competing products.
And I don't think Jason was being mean or angry in his posts...he's doing all of us a favor asking things no one else has bothered asking.

When I started this thread all I heard from off road companies was the issues with the icon coilovers seals busting...top hats cracking..and it definitely swayed my decision.
I went king over fox mainly due to the color and I was told it attracts "bitches"...haven't seen that yet.
I hate sending emails to people because they will read it a certain way depending on their mood that day. I like to take everything with a grain of salt...don't read too much into it.
I've learned so much in the past year regarding suspensions, engines, bro hoes...mainly because of these conversations. This is how we will all gain more knowledge and I personally encourage people like Jason, Chris, icon rep, torspd to continue asking and answering these questions for us.

I could be wrong but was under the impression based on info from the Fox website that the 2.0 series are aluminum body. Maybe a great shock, but seems they are selling a lesser shock set, for a bunch of money based on a Fox decal.
