Prerunner to 4x4 Swap

That was my question...if I went with a manual gearbox...how do I get the 4x4 light to come on and how do I turn off traction control and LSD. Just hit the button every time when I engage it lol? Hmmmmm

 

Not sure on 2nd gens but on 1st gens the transfer case has sensors of where the shifter is so that you cant accidentally put it in 4wd while in Park if you have the push button so all I had to do was ground the sensor to the light and whenever I move the Jshift into 4H, or 4L it lights up

was that all that is needed for a 4x4 swap:

$450: Transmission, Transfer Case, and front driveshaft
$730: Front diff, cv's, front half of rear driveshaft
$250: Gear Oil, new upper ball joints & misc. little pieces.

I used this for my list but yes, make sure you get the 4x4 transmission mount

 

shifter with plastic cover. Or you can cut yours and just buy the boot.

x2 I just cut my prerunner plate and installed the boot with a 4x4 console

 

Been about 3000 miles a trip in the mud and a trip to the beach 4x4 still working without any problems

Id like to know whats needed (electrically) for a auto-manual swap...

good job how long did everything take and what wa the hardest part etc

 

Yeah.. couldnt tell ya whats needed for a auto-manual swap honestly. took about 2 years only because of college and joining the Army hardest part was finding all the parts for a reasonable price

Awesome! I'm leaning towards LT and Supercharge before I do the swap. Plus side to 2WD is I can pull larger travel numbers up front and not worry about CV angles....On that note...I want 4wd :*( lol

 

Haha I hear ya I want to re gear and add a supercharger but I might be trading this in for a duramax
