Don't have that unit, but I've had a new pioneer in dash every year since 2009 and currently have a 2012/13 model. I have never had a problem. They deliver top quality performance and sound. Guarantee you can't go wrong with any pioneer unit.

Only thing to consider is the particular features. Do a side by side comparison of higher and lower models and see what the differences are. Usually very few differences but they make a big difference like HD radio or Sat Radio ready or Bluetooth etc. Depending on your use and plans for your system, make sure to keep an eye out for small differnces that matter to you. Such as if your gonna run nice amps, it may benefit you to get a model with 4v pre outs instead of 2v. Or of you have 2 amps you need at least 3 sets of pre outs. If you plan on connecting an iPod or iPhone check the compatibility differences. Small things matter.

But bottom line is any pioneer in dash is a great choice, hands down!

Thanks. I loved the one I had before it got stolen. All I really want it for is my iPod. Although the one I had didn't sound like the stock unit. I have the jbl package and it seemed like the bass was worse with the pioneer unit.

If you have the JBL then your using a JBL integration harness correct? Its just a fancy wire harness with RCAs on it. Maybe just play with the sound settings more.

Yeah there was one on there but it got stolen too. They took everything except the microphone, but I think that was because it was ran up my A pillar. I may just give this one a shot in the upcoming months. Thanks for tips and help man.

I like the unit pretty well. 1-10 I give it an 8 because sometimes it behaves strange like bluetooth wont connect or it freezes. maybe the first software update will fix some of these issues.

Pioneer AVH X5500. Just finished the install of the whole system last night. It was a huge difference with just this unit but add an amp and speakers...WOW!!!

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
I since added another set of JL Audio ZR components and the new 8" Alpine INE-Z928HD:

Anyone know how to get those scratches/scuff marks out of the plastic below the AC controls? I added a little scuff when I installed my radio like you did.

Ya it sucks!! I had a towel underneath it when I did the install to protect the plastics, but when I had to pull it again to install the PBB the towel slipped out and the brackets scratched the dash. I have not been able to get it smoothed out without taking measures that will be noticeable.

Decided to upgrade my stereo with equipment I had in ye old chevy blazzer. Had this hooked to a 12 inch JL in a ported 1.5 X 2 foot box. This old setup would pound very nicely, disturbing the peace style if one was so inclined.

This time I use a 10 inch Cerwin in truck box.

A bluetooth deck, and mono amplifier 330 watts...

Ran the power through the boot nearest to battery. Then along center console with the remote and RCA stereo. No line noise when running system:bananadance::bananadance: yes!

Removed the seat to fit the amp in, snug as a bug. Grounded to the seat bolt.

Used an old Cerwin 10 inch in a ported truck box. I am 5'11, when i put seat in proper position this hardware is hidden.

Here is the stereo fired up....

Used the 2012 Metra gloss kit. The deck and pocket fit ok.
Instructions played a trick on me, it indicated to remove brackets from OEM radio. I did this then realized Metra included brackets. (I guess you could drill out the OEM backets)

Not shown is that the amp throws off an obnoxious amount of blue light from the LED on top. When i had this in the cargo area of the blazzer, it felt like I was in Tron, and appeared that way from the exterior of the vehicle aswell. Now under the seat the lights is obscured, a litte bit flows over into the foot well for a sublte sex light effect, this is also my indicator to know the amp is live.

The system is much better now, the door speakers are very lively with limited bass routed to them. The sony deck has hi, mid and low adjustability. I get to really bringing out the mid and hi range with these guys with the increased watts and they actually sound sweet.

Will have to go for a boot and crank the tunes and play with settings on amp to tune this nicely, didnt want to piss the neighbors off too much yet.
    :rimshot:
Usually i bump electronic based or metal, this upgrade should serve me well.

hey guys does anyone else's pioneer 4400BH(or others models like it) move around when off road? im is doing it and popping the trim around it off.(the hole big part) i think it’s because of those POS plastic mounting brackets. anyone know where i could get some mettle ones?

I used the mounting brackets from the stock radio. Seems pretty sturdy to me.

I used metal brackets from factory on my 4400. really sturdy. Actually they were really hard to bend to make fit just right.

Only problem with using the stock brackets with Double Din HU's is the angle it sits it at. The viewing angle while watching a movie is terrible.

You can bend them but it is a pit of a pin in the ass. My plastic ones from my Scosche kit do not rattle/jump/move around or anything at all.
