To everyone that's installed the Dakar 1.5" lift (leafspring) packs, can you tell me what the "+" and "-" signs on the springs are there for?

Both springs have arrows, signifying to install them facing the arrow to the front, I get that. But one spring has a "+" on it, and the other a "-" on it... I called my dealer, and they said they really had no idea. Lol!

    Anyone else know the significance???

1.5" lift? Hope you know you will get more lift than that. Like ^ he said + on drivers side - on passanger. + means above spec and - means under spec

    Right on, thanks guys!

Yeah, I was told it would be "at least 1.5" of lift." So I'm expecting a bit more. The leaf packs are SUPER beefy compared to stock.

Believe it or not, I broke a leaf per pack last week by hitting some NASTY pot holes. Edmonton roads really go to hell this time of year.

+ for drivers side. - for passenger.

I got 2.25" inches out of mine. If your truck is new, you might get less than that - but some guys report 3" or more.

Actually, the + indicates the spring is slightly stiffer than ARB's specs. The - indicates it is slightly softer.

I agree you should go + on the driver's side to offset the Taco lean. However, both my leaf packs have + on them, meaning a bit more rate.

Why would you get an alignment after leaf installs? No need

    Actually...

Changing the height of the rear of the truck alters caster. Additionally, if the axle angle is slightly changed, thrust angle can be affected.

I would recommend an alignment after any suspension change.

You're not going to get a rear wheel alignment. You have a solid axle.

I'm trying to be nice here...

First, I'm talking about the front wheels with regard to caster.

Secondly, rear axle alignment can change with different leaf springs, different shackles, pinion angle shims, and many other lift components people frequently use back there. While this new angle is not adjustable in and of itself without more suspension modifications, the FRONT wheels may need to be re-aligned to compensate, thus correcting thrust angle and improving handling.

To repeat: You DO need an alignment after rear suspension modifications, at least if you want to do things correctly.
