How much can the bed rail system support?
I may buy a generic roof rack basket from my brother and make mounts that span the width of the bed to mount it.
how much could weight could i load down on it without overloading it?

When I haul my dirt bike around these things flex alot. I don't trust them. Normally I double up when I haul stuff.

OP , if I was you , I would design your rack to sit on top of the bed sides but fasten into the rails , that way the weight is transfered to the bedsides and not just the rails

the only issue i see with supporting the weight on the bedsides is that ill be installing fiberglass bedsides shortly and do not want to put stress cracks in the fiberglass.

im sure i could make a mount to attach to both sides and the front of the bed to help spread the load.

i would only have a load of 2-3 medium action packers with camping/kitchen gear. but i guess there is only one way to find out if it will hold!

I hate to say it, but the rails and cleats on these tacos are pretty sad compared to the Frontiers...
My Pro4x even had two rails on the floor.
