Although, I may have been looking at a Grand Cherokee Trailhawk the other day. $40,000 and 13mpg turned me off.

I may play with the 91 octane, but in my experience, i've not seen the +2 mpg when running it.

 

So the logic goes...."well honey, with s/c we can get to Lowe's much faster and ya know, we need the SAS to properly mall crawl"

Afternoon, you going back to work now that your done with school?

 

I always buy "fancy gas" for my toys - I'm thinking less gunk = longer engine life.

I followed a Jeep with a broken rear shock (upper mount wan't attached to anything ) to work this morning. Bet you could have helped that guy.

Not yet. Next week I have a final review in preparation for writing my licence exam then I go back to work.

 

It has nothing to do with gunk.

The 4.0 has a compression ratio that asks for the higher octane. It will run on the lower, but it retards the timing to compensate. This prevents detonation at the expense of power and economy.

 

Makes sense. It took a couple tanks for my truck to "learn" I was using different gas.
