    so i have a 98 f150 4x4 with the 4.6l with 249k on it..overall good condition except for the knocking sound, either wrist pin, lifter, rod..
    A friend of mine wants to trade his 05 yfz450 for it..the yfz has had an engine rebuild recently, it runs solid and strong but needs carb work because it wont run without the choke on. you have to roll it off and it fires right up, today it wouldnt start with the electric start but it fired right up when rolled...
    I dont know what to do, my truck just sits in the yard and has been for the last 2 years..not doing any good sitting there and the yfz would be cheaper to fix...

    :confused::confused:

    Clean the pilot jet in that bike and it will work just fine, or just replace the pilot jet all together, with the crappy fuels these days they tend to clog the smallest orifice first (pilot jet).

    Good luck!

    There was a big change in 06 for the yfz. Personally I wouldn't want an 05, it was substantially inferior to the next year. The carb issues are probably pretty minor. What is your truck worth?

    I understand that.

    I was asking what you think the truck is worth?

    knowing the cash out value of the old truck...I may have the opinion to sell the truck and use the money for something other than a bike that needs work.

    The carb on the YFZ probably needs to be cleaned. Take it apart and clean or replace jets. Whatever you do, do NOT spray carb cleaner on the slide!!

    OK

    I'd rather have the 2800bux than the old truck or the bike.

    Not to mention, 2800 can buy you an even better YFZ.

    The bike could have two potential problems...either it's an easy fix for a carb clean or its those damn valves tightening up. After a rebuild on the high performance motors, valves will seat and tolerances can change. Adjusting valves can be done in a few hours, but proper knowledge is required.

    If it were me...I'd stay away from the bike. Sell the ford and save the money.

    Yeah I'll prob just sell it. The ford could probably make a good mechanic a nice truck lol
