what locker?

I want a locker now that i've lifted. What have people used and what works the best? i have a 99 tacoma with a 3 inch lift and 32s. I know people will tell me to get an ARB but that is out of the question. I want an e locker but i dont know if i'll have the money so a limited slip will probably be what i can afford. I'm looking at around 500 dollars.

They are both traction aides,but they work completely different.

There are many different types of each and they vary in price & complexity to install.

 

If you want to wheel your truck save up and get an ARB I have one and love it.

If the ARB is the only option for second gens, then how is there an E Locker on the TRD off-roads?

 

I think it's implied that we are talking about aftermarket stuff. The e-locker install is not practical for retrofits.

Actually think of this hypothetical situation.

If I found a wrecked TuRD Off road, would I be able to nab the e locker, or nay?

 

Here are a couple threads on this topic. I'm not experienced with the swap, but understood that the wiring would be a nightmare. I know the diff's are different sizes, so you'd probably need the whole axle.

If you have the 8" rear axel have to get the whole 3rd if not the whole axel.

 

ARB is the way to go.

thats why I suggested what i did, streetable locker for around $500

 

really!! sweet, bunus!!! I did read on the powertrax site that you must have manual hubs or disconnects to run them in the front to prevent damage while on road

 

Yeah, If you do the lockrite. I suggest the Powertrax in the rear for street-ability though. It's just a little more expensive, but so worth it.

 

I don't see the Powertrax or Lock Right Lockers available for the 8.4" Tacoma Non-TRD diffs. Am I missing something?

 

For the rear, the part numbers are:
1615 - Lockright
92-2080-3002 - Powertrax
