No they are not. The only time the electric fan is quieter than the clutch fan is right when you take off on the highway and the clutch fan is still engaged. I've actually been debating putting a switch on mine so that I can turn them off when I'm in a drive-thru or sitting in my truck talking to someone while the truck is running. I'm not trying to scare anyone out of them but it is just something that you have to get used to.

Really? I have a buddy that has electric fans on his truck and its hella quiet. Much quieter than my clutch fan, unless mine is just unusually loud.

Well I think it really has alot to do with mine being aftermarket fans and the fact that they pull a ton of air. Now that I think about it, the e-fans on my sisters mustang and also on my dads gmc aren't very loud.

probably has to do with the motors, fan blade size, # of blades..etc..

Most electric fans have multiple speeds they run at so at a low speed it's very quite but once at full speed it can be as loud as the stock clutch fan if not louder. All depends on fan/motor combo.
