Wish I knew how to post pics. But anyway down here on the farm the ole Yota has pulled a 14ft trailer with 3 1200 lb. round bales on it. Had to put it in 4hi to get it rollin but made it thirty miles to the farm.Put 2 1/2 rank of wood on it, which made it about 10 inches from the ground to my reese hitch. Steered really easy though, luckily I was out in my pasture cutting the wood and didn't have very far to travel. That was before I got my 14ft trailer.

Took 6 generators from Raleigh, NC to Philadelphia and when they were no longer needed, from Philly to Atlanta. Work kept me busy during hurricane Sandy.

Empty weight of each was 340lb, 2 in the bed, 4 on the trailer. Truck took it like a champ.

I know your post is old, but how is it driving with that canoe in the back? I have a 14 ft canoe and I thought it would be too long. I'm glad to see someone has attempted this.

It would be insane in any kind of traffic. Making a right turn on a four lane street with a car in the middle lane would take out the car next to you as you turned.

With that canoe, at least in California, watchout. The overhang off the back of the truck has legal limits. And what I see I do not believe is legal.

Yeah I was curious about the legalities. If it's illegal in california it's probably the same here in Pennsylvania. It does kind of seem like a bad idea.

Thanks! Wasn't even sure anyone bothered to take a look. It was a lot of work but I'm really happy with how it turned out. Would be a great easily towed camper for any 4 cylinder. They also make a 17' wouldn't weigh a whole lot more.

Glad to see this thread, I knew these trucks could tow some weight since back in 1984 I had a new standard cab with a 22R/5 speed and towed a double axle uhaul trailer crammed full of our stuff from Denver to Ft Walton Beach, Florida (USAF) and AVERAGED 20 mpg for the entire trip.

Fast forward 29 years and I'm driving a 2010 access cab low-boy, 2.7L/auto. I plan to buy a boat soon, aluminum boat that will weight between 1800-2400 pounds for the boat/motor/trailer package. This will be in the Ouachita mountains of Arkansas, hilly, but I won't be going very far or very fast with it (55 mph speed limits).
