if a player dies, his contract should't count against the cap...that would be fucked if it did

 

I know, its nuts. But its part of the 35+ rule. Makes sense so people dont sign people knowing they will retire at a pre determined time keeping the cap down. Like remember Naslund in NY. his deal was borderline cheating when the rumors he had planned to only play one more year were going around then he "retired"

The Jets drafted Mark Scheiffle ahead of both Cutourier and Huberdeau a couple of years back. Cutourier and Huberdeau are now making an impression. Scheiffle is in Barrie. Winnipeg went off of the conventional map in choosing Scheiffle. Anyone who cared about that draft expected Coutourier would be next,, but the Jets chose Scheiffle...I am still waiting to see why...
