I went into the dealership in 2008 looking for one of the remaining 2010s. No dealer had exactly what I was looking for. Then Toyota Finance gave me an interest rate quote on a 2011 and it was only a few dollars/month difference. I went to the dealership for a remaining 2010 and got a great financing package on a 2011.

One other thing is that these trucks depreciate very slowly.

When it comes to a vehicle the truck is worth what u are willing to pay. If you want it enough then that price is good. As the other guys said, dont let the truck slip away over a few extra dollars a month. You could probable say I will do 29.5 and thats the max. But as long as you would be happy with the truck for the money its worth it. Also like others had said, these trucks hold value so 1 year from new isnt going to knock much off of a stealership price.

Aborted mission. Couldn't even look the guy in the eyes when I saw him, he was such an asshole. Another dealer called as I was about to write the deal saying they can do the same truck for $800 more but in a 2013. Ill take that over giving a lousy sales rep and dealer my money, plus not have a year older truck. Visiting next dealer tmrw.

They realize that Tacomas aren't difficult to move. Somebody will come along and buy it.

Honestly though, you are probably better off buying a current model year. They probably got that one from a Dealer to Dealer Trade or it was a wrecked and repaired test drive truck that they are selling as "New" because it was never titled. It sounds shady but it happens. Those kind of incidents don't show on a Car-fax.

Get a few Gs off and dont worry so much about it, get the truck you want. I have chased the deal so hard in the past that I got something that I wasnt looking for just because it was a better deal. These guys have to make a living too, I would rather have a good dealer in town and pay a bit more than try and kill them on every cent.

The motorcycle dealer in town has given me a few awesome deals on older bikes, now I have come to know them and dont want to hammer them for every dollar of hold out when I buy. Would rather have great service and know they will be around to help me out if needed....

When I was looking for my Tacoma last month, I came across a new 2012 Double Cab 4x4 TRD sport. I test drove it and went home and emailed the internet sales manager (who I dealt with last year when I got my 4runner). I asked him for his best price--then I emailed 5 other dealers to get quotes on the 2013 modelss with the same options.

Well, to my surprise--I actually had one dealer that was $200 lower on a 2013 --compared to the 2012. I emailed the dealer with the 2012 and told him --and he was still firm on the price of $31200. He said his had more options---(actually it was onlt a roof rack and a tint.)

I ended up getting a prerunner from another dealer that was a 2 hour drive for me one way, but it saved me $1352. (counting the better trade in value and lesser price on the new truck.) He was the lowest --by far--out of the several dealers that i contacted.

I kind of wished I could have gotten a 4x4--after looking at them, but I really don't need it. I just thought I could have gotten that 2012 for around $29k, but I was wrong.

It was actually sold two weeks later when I looked for it online.

Up here there are never any deals usually. They sell everyone at msrp.

I was lucky enough to find my 2012 last month for $4k less than a comparable 2013. Dealer had 3 guys in to scoop it up when it arrived on the lot. Luckily I was the first guy.

Heck, I couldn't find a used one in my area for a decent price for three months. I ended up buying new --the negotiated price was only around $1600 more for a new one--A used one that was on the dealers lot that was three model years old and 32k on the odometer.

I wish I could have found a used one, but the price difference in my area didn't justify it for me.

TacoBella is right. A dealer loves work out a nice comfortable payment. That's what a lot of the customers worry about. The F&I guy reaps the rewards.

As for used pricing, I guess it's all about how used you are willing to go. It may come out to be the same or similar difference in depreciation over a fixed # of years. That's probably worthy of another discussion. Me, I wasn't concerned about buying a 5 yr old Taco, esp if they are supposedly so reliable. Given that mine's not brand new, I don't have to freak out about a scratch, as mine came with a few already.

    Whatcha think?
    $28,500
    DC
    SB
    Tow package
    4x4

Gonna buy tmrw. Three dealers in the race. They all said go with this one, they can't beat the price. Dealer trade though. Should I spend $500 more to go with the dealer who actually has it?
