So... after a micro-burst blew through my area of Western NC I woke up to find a tree resting comfortably on my Tacoma.

Let me know what you think... pictures are in my profile album

Ya, about that... life lesson learned... when you are in between insurance companies (after a short lapse in coverage) and only liability is activated, WAIT until your comprehensive is active before you call.

I'm shafted here... everything is out-of-pocket for me this time.

Similar thing happened to my 93 in 2009. They totalled it. That cab-top damage can be a huge pain to repair if it damaged any structural pillars are edges that won't pop out.

In this pic, it hit right at the top edge of the windshield frame, broke the windshield, which also pushed down and deformed the lower frame of the windshield, damaged the hood and a fender, and squashed the neck of the radiator filler cap. I could have actually driven it away.

The fair market value versus the cost to repair did not fly with the insurance company.

Ouch! Funny the trees were able to catch that much wind with the tops cut off.

Yeah, no shit. But it turned out OK. Insurance gave me a great settlement, truck had over 200k and was only a 4-banger (dog on the Sierra highway grades), basic trim, no power stuff. It forced me to go out and find what I have now, which was a nice upgrade.:)

It was in excellent shape, and guys at the collision shop kept coming around going "man, that's a shame."

That sucks man! It doesn't look like the roof is caved in too badly. Is the windshield busted?

Oh shit, dude, I didnt' look at your gallery pix. This is the hit that will do you in. Structural hit on the edge of the roof, plus door:
and although it doesn't show from here, you proabably have very simiar damage on the driver side.

Some of this force may have caused additional damage below or to the sides of the door openings, wracking the cab. If it requires cutting out and welding in either an entire new roof or other pillars and areas, this may be too expensive to fix depending on the comparable market value of your undamaged truck. Plus your hood might have damage, and once you open your hood, you might find more damage.:(

I don't think anyone really reads the thread before posting... The OP only has liability insurance. This has to come out of pocket since insurance won't touch it do to lack of coverage.

OP, That sucks if you have home owners insurance or possibly renters insurance they might cover this too. The truck is definitely totaled... I'd just drive it around like that then sell it off when you can afford a another truck.
