Mines turning out to be the same way....

After straightening out my t-case skid a couple times i figured to hell with that, may as well strengthen them as much as i can. We'll see how it holds up after this years wheelin' season.
Damn, you must have hit hard to crack a weld on the crossmember with armor on.

 

Finally got my replacement switch in the mail from ARB.



Also picked up some new spring plungers... I seem to break these at least once a month. I need something much more HD for this tiregate....

 

Well my 4wd quit working yesterday. It wouldn't engage at all. I'm just glad i wasn't stuck somewhere and absolutely needed it. I had this problem a few weeks ago with getting out of 4wd so now the dealer is gonna replace the front diff actuator under warranty.

 

sorry to hear Mike. Didnt you have issues with your 4wd before as well? Or was it something else? Remeber you had to take your skids off for something.

 

You may be talking about the time when i found a few bolts completely loosened off the front diff?

Just started having issues with 4wd a few weeks ago but at least its getting fixed up before the wheelin' season starts.

 

Oh okay well atleast it is covered under warranty right . Get it fixed so you can out on the trail lol

I plan on getting out on the trail A LOT this season. I spent a lot of time working on the truck last year so now i need to sit back and enjoy.

 

Well at least its fixed for free thats always nice.

They replace a crap load of stuff the second time mine quit working for the same reason - front actuator. Being that they had replaced my front actuator 3 months prior, they didn't think it would have gone again - costly mistake for them. Only drawback was I had to drive a Mitsubishi Lancer for 2 weeks while they had my truck.

Ok guys, got the truck back a couple days ago and my 4wd is working properly again after having my front diff actuator replaced. I'm pretty pissed off with what i found out tho... Ever since i had ECGS do the gear & locker(s) install on my truck i've had a few minor issues with the work done but didn't really want to call and bitch about it. Till now that is. Since i had heard nothing but good things about ECGS i had fairly high expectations about the install but turns out unfortunately they are like most shops i've dealt with. Most things are done half ass and i'll explain why...

Well upon getting home and inspecting everything this is the first thing i found...
Those two wires crossing over my fuse box are powering the compressor on the passenger side. Seriously, whoever installed this couldn't run the wiring AROUND the fuse box and down the driver side fender instead like all the rest of my wiring? That's just being lazy and limits my access to the fuse box. Now i'll have to fix it properly...



Secondly, why wouldn't the guys run split loom over all the air lines running through the frame of the truck? For a few bucks more that adds quite a bit more protection and will help ward off wear issues from the lines rubbing against the edge of the frame, etc, etc. Ok, maybe i'm being picky, but for the amount of money i spent i kinda expect a company to go above and beyond whats expected. I've already fixed this...



Now the third thing i noticed, was about a month after i got home. I was starting to leak gear oil out of the front diff. WTF?! Checked the torque on all the bolts around the diff and low and behold, 3 of the inverted star type bolts were loose! So loose in fact i could spin two of them freely with my hand. Hmmmm, were these bolts torqued down to the recommend 81 foot/lbs? I'm willing to bet they weren't.



and finally, after yesterday i've had enough. This is what i found on the actuator after the mechanic pulled it off and replaced it. If you look closely you'll notice the vent tube is surround by silicone... Well that's certainly not OEM. Turns out, someone broke the vent tube off, put it back on and siliconed the shit out of it. Really?!? I can't believe this...



That's 4 strikes in my opinion and i'll be giving Chase a call beginning of next week to discuss this. These 4 things have got me fuming now and i'm really disappointed with how ECGS went about the install. No pride was shown with the work done and this has left me very frustrated. I guess if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself but damn, when you spend $4000 at a company, this should have been done RIGHT from the get go, not Half Assed like i've seen now.

What do you guys think? I hate complaining but this is just too much to let it go IMO....

 

Oh, i also diagnosed a squeal that i thought was coming from a pulley... Turns out it was the belt... don't know how i managed this tho... lol

 

Well just another reason for me to do stuff myself so i can make sure it gets done right!

 

IMO, the wiring is a bit tacky, the wire loom is a bit picky, but the vent tube? WTF I would be L I V I D!!!!

 

That really sucks Mike. I was thinking of going the same route you did, and driving down there for a road trip and stuff, in the very far distant furture, but dont think thats the plan now.

Exactly! But seriously, from all the reviews i read and members talking good things about ECGS i really didn't think i had anything to worry about. Boy that couldn't be further from the truth.

Oh believe me, I'm right pissed off about this. That's absolutely unacceptable in my book! I'm looking forward to discussing this with Chase. I may just email him instead so i can share pictures...

 

I would do both....email him, then wait a day to see if he will contact you first....

 

Yea my girl is all fixed up now which is great but the hassle i've had to go through dealing with this shit is getting on my last nerve. If i didn't have these stupid silly issues to begin with i would have totally recommended a road trip down there but after this, i just can't justify telling my buddies to do the same...

 

Yea, i'm thinking that's my best bet as well.... I'll send a nice email to him this weekend and see what happens next week...

 

They didn't torque JA's front drive shaft either....I didn't notice any issues with mine....

 

Like they say it only takes one screw up to ruin a reputation and it seems this is reoccuring. Could not imagine all this hassle B.S. SOmetimes it the little things that needed to be done, exspecially when your spending that kind of doe.
