I had all 4 of mine cut out and was down for one day. A little swollen for a couple days.

My uncle pulled mine out with a pair of pliers, and we went to a chinese buffet 2 hours after. it came out clean and made a sound like when you tear a fresh crips piece of paper.

your experience may vary, but oral surgeons are normally VERY highly skilled, far more than the average dentist. My top wisdom teeth were in the sinus cavity, my bottoms were horizontally impacted. Turns out I had mono when I had them removed and it took me MONTHS to recover.

I had 4 removed during boot camp with no pain meds after, and only local anethesia during so you'll be fine. Like others have said, Ice Cream, Jello, soft stuff. I was diggin' the egg noodles out of the galley.

I'll add applesauce to the list..

I've had my top 2 out..just like the one you mentioned that came in but you can't reach to brush it. Never had the bottom 2 out or needed to.

Both times I didn't need to be cut open..took longer to give me the Novocain than to pull the tooth. The hinge of your jaw will be sore just cause it's so far in the mouth they have to go so it's open wide.

I also had the last molar in the back pulled. Same thing. One of these times I went Christmas shopping for 3 hours afterwards. Never took more than ibuprofen, but part of it is I won't take pain meds unless I have to and then I will not take a narcotic.

damn i had a much different experience than most of you did. they gave me the gas and told me to count down from 100. i got to 9sevuhhhhhhh. then woke up a few hours late, went home and mom asked me what i wanted for dinner and ordered a pizza. pulled out my stitches the next morning because they were driving me crazy, and that was the end.

maybe you will get lucky like me and not have any problems recovering. tonsils on the other hand... apparently when under the influence of funny gas i hit on hot nurses very well and attempt to leave the hospital still dressed in those stupid aprons they give you. and the next week i lived off of popsicles and frozen beef jerky (dont judge, its amazing when you cant even drink water)

Dentists just scare me for some reason, pain in my mouth is definitely my least favorite pain. They're giving me a weeks worth of ibuprofen, Motrin, and percocet. And I'm taking all three for those 7 days! Haha

My girlfriend doesn't have wisdom teeth either.... But she also didn't have one of the adult teeth next to her two front teeth. So she still has to have like 3-4 oral surgeries.

Those vicodin's they give are not very strong. Basically they give you a headache and make you hungry, doctors are scared to death to give out anything good.

I had to get mine cut out so I was put out. Woke up with some huge holes in my mouth that took 2 weeks to heal since I ate meat too soon and got them infected. That part sucked, the infection tasted nasty when I swallowed.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I lived off soup and oatmeal for a good two weeks after mine were out, it was real tender back there for awhile.

They told me not to eat either of those... Haha Not to eat soup for the first 3 days or so because heat can impede the clotting, and stuff like oatmeal is too grainy and can get lodged back there.

What, does smoking make mouth/teeth pain worse? That might explain what I've been going through since my teeth got re-arranged by a hammer. Because it's some NASTY pain. Except for the initial pain, getting a motor dropped on my head didn't hurt as much as my mouth has been hurting.

    Edit: Post #666! O___o

Yeah, some people have noticeably less pain than others. The told me to stick to cold soft food at first, a lot of liquid, and stuff that contains a lot of protein.
