Because there aren't any videos of Toyota's getting stuck in snow/mud and sand?

Wat?... No it's not. The Edge isn't available in 2 Door, The interior is completely different and the Evoque actually works off road.

I got to drive one on a course and was pretty impressed at what it can do, Even with 20" wheels and low profile tires.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iw1aT5c1Lus

Land Rover (Range Rover) have many decades making vehicles that can go everywhere... They are a huge hit in other countries because unlike over here, They are available in diesel variants.

I'd own an Evoque with no complaints since it so far seems to be a reliable one or a Diesel Range Rover (if it were available here)... While the V8 Rovers are complete shit as far as reliability.

For the OP, You can bring up re sale value... Toyota is known around the globe for superior reliability so our trucks will hold their value far better than any Land Rover product ever.

Land Rovers depreciate over 50 percent in a thirty six month period. I paid 24K including tax for my 08 Taco package one with a V6 auto trans access cab. I had a gentleman offer me 19K last month for my 08 Taco with 74K miles. 21 Percent depreciation for Five Years! Land Rover owners must like the idea of LOSSING Mucho Jake which is why they are cake eating losers to begin with. Talk about a vicious cycle of lost opportunity cost!

Other than being expensive and generally driven by dbags on this side of the pond they're extremely capable off road. They'll go anywhere a stock TRD OR Taco is going, and probably further.

Price, reliability, image, sure all those are valid complaints. But off road capability is one thing you can't take away from them. It's a shame vehicles like that, or something like a Mercedes G Wagon are used for mall crawling mostly in the sates because they're some very good off roaders.

Owned a RR County once, biggest POS I have ever had the displeasure of owning. Final straw was when the dash fell off while I was wiping it down with armor-all.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I have a similar problem with one of my friends, he is a bowtie boy and is constantly raving about his s10 and how shitty toyota is, I just have to say the word "Bailout" and he shuts right up. Landrovers are just over priced luxury wagons, I personally think they are junk. Girl I went to high school with had one and it was always at the shop. It was worse than the jeep I had at the time.

You can always say this to him too.
"Landrovers are like tampons, every pussy needs one!"
I see that quite often on a bumper sticker, usually bashing jeeps instead of rovers though.

I don't have $50K to spend on a vehicle, Nor do I need a vehicle that can go off road... What do you base your bias on? Any first hand experiences?.

And the type of people that are ghetto aren't usually the ones that buy Range Rovers because of their high prices... So try again, It's usually the up tight soccer moms.

I won't spend that on a ride, much less one of those. I know enough people who have had the displeasure of owning one of the newer dealer service addicted units to base my opinion off of. I live in large metro area and see plenty of ghetto folks in these with all kind of donk setups and blingy nonsense done to them. And yes, I live in a place where the snooty soccer moms are competing with all the oddessey vans with a number of these. Farts are what you will hear if I choose to talk out my ass. I do think the older ones are much better and that hype is what drives the sale of the newer ones.

Pretty dam amazing? You're kidding right?

I've spent time working on them and they are piles of shit. I've wheeled with rovers(older ones) and their abilities are really limited.

I'm all for the water crossing, I bet water gets into his gas tank, if he doesn't short out his fuel pump (or entire vehicle) first. :D

I kinda like them...especially the Range Rover. Damn nice IMO. And that new Evoque is a super sexy looking ride...again IMO.

I don't get the hateful stuff...stereotyping...and class envy here.

So what if some wealthy person wants to spend 100grand cash on a vehicle? Or some others want to lease one for a grand a month for 3 years? And who cares if some urban folks want to bling up/pimp out their Rover?

I'm sure there are plenty of people who see lifted Tacoma's w/ plate bumpers and 3mpg wheels/tires and enough lights to fill a stadium, and say WTF?
