so maybe in a few weeks and just lag a 2x6 with some leak stop caulking in the holes and call it a day
the guys who did the roof are butchers anyway......
the privacy screen is a floating railing system designed by me with only 2 connection points.....
not up to code for sure...

This should be in the WTF thread. Maybe someone can help me here.
I have a 350 gallon underground Propane tank. I am trying to figure out if I own the tank or not? We bought the house back in August and are tired of being raped by United Propane. I can have any person fill it if I can prove it is mine. I say it came with the house as long as it is in my yard,it is mine and I can have whoever is the most budget friendly fill it . How do I know if it is leased or owned? We have no paperwork that goes to favor either party. Any ideas on how to Id this tank without diggin it up? They would charge me 2,900.00 to bring it above ground. RAPE..

Why doesn't United Propane have to prove it is theirs?

Thats what I tell them . I ask them to provide me with proof. They yet to have done this. I asked them to fill it today and since they were here checking for a leak. they couldn't fill the tank because the office was closed. Well gee funny how that works out. 1 our response time for a leak. Now they want to charge me a 149.00 delivery fee plust the 1,200.00 to fill the bitch. I cant shop around for a better price because if the tank is owned by UP no one else will fill it. I am glad that it is not very cold. One good thing:)

Well it sounds like they have no legal standing, so fuck em. Put it in writing to cover your ass and make it official. Write them a letter, and say if they do not provide written legal proof within 30 days that the tank was installed by and is owned by them, it will be considered your private property to be serviced by a propane provider of your choice.

I like this, also, let them pay to pull it out, idk how they can say its their tank if u have no contract in writing stating this, and then charge u to remove it

as far as i know, if it is buried then you own it and can buy propane from whoever you want.

my tank is above ground, it is owned by a local company... and they slay me every winter... i am considering buying a tank and burying it.

OK so its almost time to put up my floating deck railing sysytem
i would like to go with the white lattice as it would match the siding

    1. can you staple to it? i am assuming not.
    2. best way to secure to railing which is a 2x4 - drill over sized holes and screws with washers
or should i just do wood and paint it?

Mount a 1x1 to the 2x4 and attach the lattice to the 1x1

I think it would look like a "T" when viewed from the end, where the 2x4 is the top and the 1x1 sits under the 2x4.

My wife and I are tackling our first concrete countertop. We're eventually going to do the kitchen but we thought we'd try out a laundry room counterop first as a trial run. Here's the counter. It's 7.5 feet long and 2 feet wide.

    20130302_065229.jpg

Removed the countertop and cut cement backer board to size.
    20130302_072446.jpg

Taped and mudded using thinset. We added an edge form that we bought from Z-Countertops. It'll give the countertop a 1/2 bullnose edge. We got eight 8 foot edges (64 feet) and six 8 foot straight edge pieces (for the back) for $200. When the countertop is cured, the edge pieces snap off leaving the bullnose (not reusable). They're made of pvc so you can cut them with a miter saw. They also sell some holders so the edge piece will sit still on the saw.
    20130302_083201.jpg

    Another shot of the setup.
    20130302_083211.jpg

Here's all the concrete packed in, screeded and troweled with a wood trowel. We vibrated the edges with a sander to get air bubbles out.

We used 4 - 80 lbs bags of Quikrete Countertop mix (available at Lowes on special order). We would have preferred to use the Buddy Rhodes mix but it's about 3-4 times the cost. For the color, we bought two containers of Buddy Rhodes Coal powdered pigment. We also put in AR Glass fiber in the bottom layer of concrete for stength (1.25 pounds per bag/ two bags).
    20130302_141234.jpg

With the left over concrete, we made some backsplash pieces. Here's the form for them made out of melamine strips.

    Just baseboard and carpet left!

Started as bare studs about 2 years ago. Did every bit myself from the electrical to the final paint. Worked on it every now and then when I felt like it. Took some vacation last week to watch one of the kids who was out of school, and decided I'd Git-R-done. Got do decide on the carpet. Never done that before, but why stop now.
