My girlfriend has an 09 2.7 liter base model regular cab and I think a mouse has made it its home. In her dash there are a bunch of torn up napkins and her carpet is covered in mouse poop. How do we get the mouse out?? Any advice would be welcome. She refuses to drive it until we get it out (She absolutely hates mice).

Get a bottle of peppermint oil and put some on a cotton ball. Put the cotton ball near where it's den is.

For some reason the peppermint oil fucks with mice respiratory functions so it will leave. Your car will smell like peppermint, but I could think of worse things.

Try to find peppermint oil (health food store) but peppermint extract may work as well.

The latest trick for bait on a snap trap is a 1/4 inch piece of a SlimJim meat stick, the regular flavor.

The idea behind that is the mouse will have to pull and tug on it to get a piece off... almost always setting off the trap.

Mice have a good record of licking off peanut butter from the trap and getting away with it.

Yes, mice are adept at this-I can attest. Slim Jim sounds promising. Put a trap on the floor-put plastic underneath, in case you get a hit.....

Haha! I love this board. The members are pros to when it comes to their Tacoma's, but they are also pros at killing mice. Awesome!

Mouse trap and peanut butter, worked for me on my last SUV. Might take a try or two, make sure to stuff that trigger(cylinder) with peanut butter.

I had a co pilot as well,
Last summer camping it must of got inside.
Rode shotgun for a few weeks til,
The shop vac was brought in, opened the doors and vacuumed the truck well.
No more mouse, I think it fled.
I had hoped it ate all the crumbs a vacuum can't reach.

Best thing I can think of would be to try a trap. Put cardboard or plastic under the trap in case you do get it- a lot cleaner, eh? The Slim Jim trick mentioned above sounds more promising than peanut butter- File IFR is right- them suckers can get away with some peanut butter unscathed. Problem is, they are drawn more to sweets. If that doesn't work, Peppermint OIL will work- not extract. You can put it on a cotton ball and place it near where you think they are nesting at. I've also heard you can put it on charcoal briquettes and that will hold the smell longer than a cotton ball, but I don't know if you want charcoal briquettes in the truck, for obvious reasons.
(Random Fenwick-Proven Fact: Peppermint oil also works for keeping fleas at bay.)

If i had this happened and put both in my truck, with my luck the mouse would win..:(

I use an electronic trap. It has a capacitor that zaps them unconscious. I use peanut butter and chocolate, or if it is a field mouse, bird seed. After you get one, you just open the door and toss it out. Works REALLY good.

My mom had this Lexus GS 400 and rat got in how did we know? well i was driving down hill and braking and i was wearing sandals it bit my foot. I was so shocked at what happened i jerked my foot off the brake and nearly rear ended a pickup at 50 MPH. Anyways even worse was that it died in the car and it was so far inside the ac conduits that we could never get it out. Imagine the worse smell you could ever smell not only did it smell like a rat, it was a decomposing rat in the AC. anyways i hope you have luck. I the vacuum method sounds rather promising in scaring the rat away without killing it.
