I gave the dealership here in Wichita, KS one chance to deliver what was promised on the "free" oil change and they did not deliver what was promised.

I'll do it myself from now on.

I will use my free oil changes since I am in school right now and its hard to find time to change the oil and I will graduate in a couple years so why not have someone do it for me and I live only a mile away from the dealership but I do trust the techs cause I have seen the work they do send it is pretty good

Prob charged for synthetic or something.

If u r comfortable doing it yourself instead of a kid ghat doesnt know how to do crap without reading directions, i say do it yourself.
I always do mine. Dont want a stealership or jiffy lube touching anything of mine.

5w-20 Bulk (as stated on the invoice they handed me) instead of the 0w-20 Synthetic that the Owner's Manual recommends and ALL of the documentation I received about my "complimentary" Toyota Care stated I should get.

For the general population it's no big deal, they shrug theirs shoulders and say oh well it was 'free", but for me they did not deliver and I don't trust them anymore.

I pay the dealer to do mine. Oil changes are easy enough. I believe in letting the pros do what they get paid for. They don't fly my aircraft I don't fly theirs. Besides , documented Dealer service adds more value than a stack of AutoZone receipts

I always change my own oil. I have been doing it for 43 years. Since Toyota will pay for 2 oil changes on my Taco, I will have them do it. Before I drive off the dealership lot I will check the oil level and make sure the oil is clean. I will also check under the truck for any leaks. I will also check the general condition of everything under the hood. Checking for any missing parts etc. This is what I always do when I have any work done on my vehicle at a dealership which is only on any warrentee work. Get your free oil changes but trust no one at the service department.
If you are going to Walmart for your oil filters just remember that Toyota oil filters are the best.

I drive my vehicles to at least 200,000+ miles so the little extra for dealer documented service at trade in is meaningless.

I've never used the free changes on any of my new Toyota's over the past years. I just feel better knowing I did it, and took the time to look at everyting else too.

    Just my preference.

    FYI-

I'm in the 30+ car owners club, and I've NEVER had anyone ask me for receipts or maintenance records.

I prefer to do my own also..My Dad always used the local Toyota dealer until he found the oil fill cap laying in the skid plate of his 4runner.The bad part is he found it about 2 weeks after the oil change and about 50 miles of dirt roads later!!Talk about pissed!!

I just don't trust them, there careless. I brought my last truck 2010 to the dealer for a blower motor replacement, left with a appointment to repaint my passenger side door cause the chipped the paint off of it. Looked like shit after must I add, then when I bought my 2013 I brought it to the dealer for a weird clunk in the rear, they never found it I did all the research spent all the Time under my truck searching for it cause they claimed they couldn't hear it. Not to mention, they were laying on the dirty floor, then get in my truck? Yea I had grease on my armrests and seats for nothing cause they never found it,oh keep in mind that was a a tech mechanic both times so u really think I can trust them to do the oil? Nope and I won't I've herd and seen to many " they never changed the filter" they stripped my oil pan" never filled it back up with oil" left a oil can under the hood and I smelt burning plastics when I got home" No THanks

If plan is to keep truck for more then 5 years it does not matter if recites are there or not. Some will try lowball it even with all the reciepts others will pay good money when they ride truck that drives and sounds like new.

I have always found comfort in servicing my trucks myself as opposed to taking it some one and truth be told, the Tacomas with a 4.0 V-6 were a gift to the shade tree mechanic/truck owner, you cant ask for an easier set up to do oil changes yourself. I absolutely despised doing oil changes on my 5.7L Tundra and the 3.4L Tacomas were a pain in the ass too , with the skid plate having to be removed or having to go all yoga to get in there on the side with a piece of cardboard to not spill oil everywhere. I love changing the oil on the 4.0's, its a 15 minute job tops!

they are not complimentary oil changes, you paid for them... i believe toyota calls it prepaid maintenance. i got it with my truck and my fiances corolla for purchasing the platinum toyotacare shit... you can call toyota and cancel it, they will pro-rate it and mail you a check for like 2-3k bucks depending on what you got.

Your talking about something totally different. Toyota Care is a 2 yr/25,000 mile complimentary free oil changes and tire rotations that comes with the purchase of any new Toyota. Its not something you pay extra for.

imagine if a dealer gave you the oil filter and oil for the oil change instead of having to bring it in to them

This. They only started this with model year 2012 I believe. My grandmother got it with her Rav4.

My 2010 Tundra came with it too. Theyve been doing it for several years.
