You know the stop that keeps you from overinserting the mag? Rounded that puppy off a little when I slammed the mag into the magwell.

 

Just got most of my build together.. but can't get the charging handle to come back more than a couple inches After some troubleshooting, I'm thinking..more hoping that the buffer tube is just tweaked and not letting the bolt come all the way back. Loosening/moving the tube seems to help. Ordered a new one, so we shall see.. Gonna be heated if its an issue with the lower. Any thoughts?

This upper worked fine on other lowers, but the other uppers wouldn't work on this lower..

JD Machine lower, Adams Arms upper, Rock River LPK, misc Magpul parts.

 

Sounds like you got it figured out. i would be looking at the buffer tube also.

 

stupid question, is one buffer tube mil-spec and the others commercial spec?

 

bolt carrier is binding in the buffer tube, or you have a dent or something.

Take the spring and buffer out, then slide the bolt carrier in and out of the receiver extension (buffer tube) to see if it binds.

Milspec / commercial tubes internal dimensions are for all practical purposes, the same. It's the outside dimension that F's ya.

 

I had one from PSA, not sure if mil spec or commercial but when i replaced it when I fucked up the threads with a UTG(got it for free) my magpul moe stock fits a lot tighter. Its tight so its harder to slide the stock back and forth but there is zero play in it now. Pretty sure the UTG is a commercial spec buffer

Yes. You have a commercial spec tube now it appears. The difference is in the manufacturing process. Commercial tubes are an extrusion that has threads on the end and a plug welded on the other. The "Mil-spec" tubes are a completely machined part.

 

Is your firing pin retaining pin inserted on the correct side of the BCG? Ive seen where guys will insert it from the wrong side and it will do the same thing.

I ordered both mil-spec, so unless there was an error on the shipper's end I should be good. I ordered another mil-spec tube that should be here this week.

I did this (foolishly, spring and buffer out, and put the upper on like normal) and got the bolt so stuck I thought I wasn't getting it out. Fingers crossed, this is consistent with the tube being the problem.

That's a thought, I will double check.

Not what i am seeing. It must have been a misprice and they pulled it down because in the past 24 the lowest price was .43 and that was 8 hours ago

i think it was. i got 1000rds in my cart and their site crashed and now the ammo is off their site.

 

I got a glitch in a system last night and that i was getting one hell of a deal and ordered (what i thought) at the time was 3000 rds of 308 but i just got confirmation that they shipped today and on the shippers site it says the package is only 18lbs. so i think i am only getting 300 rds.
