Strange crap in my browser, and no it's not weird pr0n

I have started to get a crapload of hot links stuck onto random text on web pages, what is this crap and how do I get rid of it? I have pop-ups blocked in my Firefox browser and I haven't changed any setting recently.

 

Switch to Mac and run safari. Never worry about viruses and malware again. Problem solved.

 

Here is what we would do at work
Check extentions/addons.
Run virus scan for good measure.
If still there, and teacher wants to keep Firefox, uninstall and reinstall.

Macs get rootkits. rather take a virus over a rootkit anyday.

 

Are you talking about where it blue underlines a good amount of words and gives you definitions of these words, or products related to them?

You should run a antivirus scan (avg whole computer scan) and also download this if you don't have it. http://www.malwarebytes.org/ and do a scan of your computer using that.

Thanks guys! I'm running my Spybot at the moment and it already caught an Adware, I already have AVG free, I run that next and i'll look at that link jonatel

 

Yeah I'll clear the reg and cookies too. We'll see, for the most part I haven't had issues with Firefox though, doesn't mean I'm not open to another brower

 

Found it and nailed it this morning, it's a POS called Browse To Save, found a direct binary exe file that killed it here http://search.yahoo.com/r/_ylt=A0oG....com/question/index?qid=20121207185724AAWQnE4 thanks everyone for your help and suggestions
