Tarriff taxes would offset that labor difference, if enforced. But someone has his head up his ass without pointing fingers.

They want to tax my cheerios and my sugar drinks but not impose stiffer tariff taxes on imports. Fkem

China has us in their pockets. That's basically the bottom line. They are rather good at business and again have a massive and almost inexhaustible supply of dirt-cheap labor. Whether its cars, PC's, or anything else, they have the upper hand with lower cost competition. Its really not all that different from the 19th century US economy and its massive supply of poor immigrant labor workers in sweat factories in the Northeast.

The best thing that could happen to Us is if China's middle class grows larger and larger, thus demanding higher wages in the process, which would in turn crank down their cost-cutting advantage. Then again, we're talking about a billion people, a good chunk of whom will eagerly work for peanuts.

I will also say I've seen a number of new Ford out on the road recently. The fit and finish looks about 200% better than the crap they made even 4-5 years ago. I'd be curious if the JD Power reports about Ford translates into actual reliable cars.

Im not happy about this..... GM should have gotten rid of the brands that dont have any history in their name (ie Saturn)

Well there two sides to this. China can either keep the same body and produce their own engine (that has the same characteristics as it does now) and Improve of it.

OR they will China-tise it. Hybrid 1.9L 3 cyl engine..... and then make the body out of plastic and lose all of the "HUMMER" lines.

Im going for the second one. What a Shame

Last year Ford saved 1.2 billion dollars in warranty repair costs because their quality has gone up. They may not be perfect, but they are doing some things right.

    Right!

There still pretty solid and bad ass IMHO, there are some nice ones around here, but those same buyers will not be getting a new one if they are owned by the Chinese..but don't tell them that. They are financing all of this "stimulate- my - package" plan stuff and don't seem to care. Must be nice to have money to just burn...oh wait that's what Washington is doing and the Chinese are supporting them..yeah cool then right?

Most people don't realize that almost all of those H2's and H3's are really just based off of Chevy truck platforms. The H3 is based off the Chevy Colorado. Its sort of ashame that they built the H2 first because the H3 actually gets decent fuel economy and is more of a mid sized vehicle. The H2 was the worst vehicle for GM perception wise than any other- Corvair included.

Hummers are lifestyle/vanity statements, not practical vehicles. which is exactly opposite of the intent behind thier marketing. Hummers are a classis case of marketing f**kup.

No, its not that at all. Again- if you want to place blame, blame the schmucks who got their companies into trouble in the first place.( GM and Chrysler) Had they run their companies like they should have, then they wouldn't be taking our money. Then again, liberals blamed Bush for everything too, whether he had anything to do with the issue or not.

Agreed, but two wrongs don't make a right.
