No. Add 1 resistor to each map light and you'll be good.

Damn that means I gotta take apart my map light housing again and get another thing of resistors from RadioShack

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get to the map lights easily ? The way I did it was by sticking a flat head where the clear plastic part of the lights are lol

Holy shit! No! No screwdrivers needed. All you do is grab the "front" of the entire assembly (near the windshield) and pull down. The whole shebang will pop right off and the bulbs are in plain sight. You gotta remember, Toyota designed this truck, not Ford LOL

I had to add 1 resistor to each map light and 2 to my dome light to get them to work...

I have an '03 DC Tacoma and using a panel LED for my dome light which requires (2) 100 ohm resistors in parallel to allow the LED light to stay on when the doors are open.

    0af6cdce-9dc2-4b16-a9e7-7cf866d4f1e4_zps_1d264384ab377e8f8cd2f80a68b9911958375b00.jpg

With only (1) 100 ohm resistor, the LED dome light would stay on when unarmed, but go off once the door was opened (even though it was set to the DOOR mode). Turning on one of the map lights with OEM bulbs for now triggered the LED dome light to turn on/off.

Thanks to Scott from post above for his help!

    NOTE:
I purchased the 1/4 Watt 100 Ohm resistors from my local Fry's Electronics. They had the 1/8 watt ones, but they looked too small to dissipate heat. Hopefully my 1/4 watt resistors won't overheat and melt any wires as compared to the 1 watt Radio Shack resistors that everyone has been using. If anyone thinks that my 1/4 watt resistors are too low of a rating, let me know and I'll head down to the 'shack and pick up the 1 watters.

I used polarg hyper white bulbs and they are brighter than the stock bulbs. I know they are not LED but they are abit brighter.

In case you haven't done all the stuff with the resistors, etc., I purchased these lights off Ebay and so far, so good. It took forever for them to get to the US, but it was a simple replacement and they turn on to the proper brightness without any 'warming up' as soon as you open the door (or push the button).

Those lights did NOT require the 100 ohm resistor mod? Just plug and play? If so, then I'll order those for my other car.

When I did my map lights they worked fine as long as I had a regular light in my dome. Once I did the switch to all LED I have issues now. I put on resistors on two LED's and I still haven't got it right yet. Gotta get back to radio shack soon.

I have almost the same one in my truck and it needed a resistor.

I'm going to try ordering some of the lights mentioned above and see how they work...

I finally got mine all working. I have two panel style LED's in, one for the dome, one for drivers side map light. I have a smaller festoon 4 led in the passenger side map light because my girlfriend said the panels blind her. I put in two 1 watt 100ohm resistors on the two panel ones and now I have it working correctly finally.
