I agree about being afraid of a Hybrid(long term)
    V8? Yeah exactly!!!
I have 2 A3 Clean Diesels right now(daughter and wife). They are just better built Golfs.

Have fun with that pile. Good thing you won't need to worry about the engine because everything will be junk.

No it's because the 4 cyl is underpowered and the V6 sounds like a thrashing machine(noisy as hell) and gets crap MPG.

I just don't see the "quality" in the Taco after having it for a year. It is just a cheaply built truck. Good resale value though..
Everything ic cheap plastic and is easily damaged/scratched up.
The seats were evil and cruel so I spent nearly 5k on Recaros.
Sorry, not feelin it. Spit out the Kool Aid and think objectively.
Toyota should do a WAY better job on these trucks or offer a "Lexus" version.
It would still prefer to have Toyota on the tailgate though.
The only reason they don't is that most guys arse willing to settle for OK build quality. They would improve the interior, engine, transmission and available engine lineup if we demanded it.

Maybe I got a bad one but my engine sounds like it is tearing itself apart when I stand on it.
Nothing like a smooth Lexus V6

Hmm never been in a chevy with a v8 then huh. Fire it up and it knocks like someone's at the front door. And you think a high power diesel is going to be quiet? Ha.

The engine of every Chevy V8 I've ever owned has been quiet. The Gibson exhaust on the other hand...

I do agree about the diesel though, it will not be quiet. Jeep Wranglers are not refined vehicles. Even their gassers are loud in the cab, a diesel will most definitely be worse.

Why would you stand on it? It's a midsize truck, not a GTR... Sounds like you should have never gotten a truck in the first place... or at least a Chevy SS or a Craptor...

Like I said earlier in this thread, some people simply cant be pleased and always expect more than what they got. I have owned Lexus vehicles and there is a reason they cost $15,000+ more than a Toyota. If your the type of consumer that seeks those types of refinements then you phucked up by buying a Toyota compact pick up. For those that went into the purchase knowing what they were getting for the money they spent....they are generally happy. Good luck in your quest!

Both of my old chevys knocked like crazy when the engine was cold. Took one to GM under warranty and they said it was because I wasn't running premium gas. Screw that. I traded both off shortly after owning them and never looked back. I will only buy a duramax if I buy a chevy product now.

OP, if you're the type that likes creature comforts, I guess I don't understand the change to a Wrangler. They are built to be less refined vehicles, that's part of their selling point.

I've heard about the infamous Chevy knock and fortunately avoided it :)

Besides the cost of diesel have to factor in the cost of urea as well.

I'd trade my truck in for a 4x4 diesel hilux from across the border any day. What I REALLY want is the 70 series land cruiser

Because I used to sell cars in a past life and worked out a great deal on the Jeep, and kept the Lexus people there until midnight working out the deal, got the final "last offer, take it or leave it three times until I saw sure there was no more money left on the table. Its quite a change, but she loves her new IS250 special edition..
