    enough to go over stuff

My 2012 came stock with 4 leafs in the back and at 1.75 my truck is level. I put 265/70/17s on but I had to remove the front mudflaps on both sides of the tire. The little one in front almost tore off on my way home from the tire shop. Throttle feels the same to me.

Sorry to hear that you had to remove the flaps even with the 1.75". Glad to know that the response wasn't any different.

    Thanks man!

There is a very slight (if any)rake. In fact, the rear now seems to be sitting "just a tad" lower than the front. My OCD picked up on this right away haha... Regardless, it's probably unnoticeable to the common eye and definitely sits more level than before.

Before I installed the Bilstein 5100's, I measured a height of (from center of the wheel cap to the bottom of the fender) of 20"; after the Bilstein's were installed (and set at 1.75"), I measured 22" for a gain for 2".

I decided to run the 265/70's because: A) I didn't want to change the wheels (money saved here was applied elsewhere lol), B) I didn't want to offset the speedometer by too much, C) I didn't want to run into any "rubbing" problems, etc., and D) I didn't want to dramatically decrease my MPG. After considering all this, I decided on going with the 265's. No regrets!

As far as throttle response, it seems the same as with the stock tires. Perhaps, adding the AFE air filter and TRD exhaustnegated any loss (or decrease) of throttle response.

I love it man, it looks awesome! I was debating on putting billy's only in the front but this has sealed the deal...ordering them tonight.

Nice! You could adjust the 5100s higher if you wanted to right?

Neil, what kind of tires do you have? I like the aggressive look of those.

And no rub with the front flaps removed, right?

The Bilstein 5100's have 4 settings:

    • Setting 1: No lift
    • Setting 2: .85"
    • Setting 3: 1.75"
    • Setting 4: 2.5"
You could set it to 2.5", but you'd definitely have to lift the rear as well.

The tires are: 265/70R17 BFG Mud-Terrains KM2. Couldn't be happier with these tires! Excellent performance (on and offroad) and extremely tolerable (as far as sound) at high speeds.

    No rub at all!

Looks really good. In fact, you have answered ALL the questions I have in mind (without me asking - just read thru all the responses).

Did you do the alignment after the front 5100s and/or tires? Thanks.

Glad this post helped answer your questions; believe me, there's a wealth of information on Tacoma World :)

I had the front alignment done right after the 5100's were installed. The tech said he was easily able to get it back to original OEM specs, however, if I decided in the future to go with the 2.5" setting, this would not be possible.

Thanks for the details. I'm new on here and get brainfucked with all the options and this is clearly what I want to do without using those leveling spacers.

I'm running 265 AT's but wanted to ask anyone if the wheel spacers are legit to get the wheels out a little bit and what would anyone suggest on size and brand....1 1/2" and Spider Trac?

Glad this post helped you out!

My personal opinion on wheel spacers is to stay away from them. I've heard plenty of horror stories about them. I wouldn't even consider them; but that's my opinion.

    Awesome! Thanks!

I'm strongly considering getting one and having it powder coated to match my truck color (magnetic metallic gray) :)

My 2013 Sport came with 265/65/17s. I understood that I could go up to 265/75/17s without any rubbing. I'm looking to go with the same setup as yours (except I may go with AAL). I do not want to remove my mud flaps, so will I have to stick with the stock size?

265/70/17 are what I have and they hit my mud flaps at fill turn. You said 265/75/17 above and that definitly wont fit with this setup.
