Looking for some guidance on which setting would be the best for off-roading in an open muddy field? I have a 2011 TRD Off Road.

Starting over with a new GMC AT4 Satin Steel Metallic Softopper, Bilstein 5100's @ 1.75 in the front, TSB Rear, 17x8.5 Lvl 8 Guardians, 265/70-17 Falken Wildpeak AT3W, Scooped, Anytime fog mod, Osram Nightbreakers, LED Interior lights, Debadged, Painted valance, Removed rear head rests, De-flapped, Hidden Hitch installed, Weather Techs, Flyzeye'd A/W/A, Cover Kings.
Open muddy field? I would go 4HI, keep the tires spinning and have fun. I wouldn't lock unless needed and I wouldn't go 4LO in a muddy field, to much wheel spin and RPM. Oh, for an added bonus push and hold the VSC button for a few seconds until it turns off, then you can spin and slide and have all kinds of fun without lights and sirens.

Just depends on the field, is it open, wash outs, inclines, trees? What's your style of wheeling? I know what mine is, I'll f around a bit but I like the steady and slow traction of 4 low. Just crawling along. Maximum traction with lots of gear to play with.

If your the fast guy that wants to get real muddy and throw crap all over your truck then 4 high or 2wd would be your best bet. It all depends on what your style is and what you want.

    Thanks

    Brett

Thanks for all the advice guys. The field is rolling (nothing steep though) and pretty soggy due to all the rain this winter. My off road has 265/75R16 Dick Cepek FC-II, no lift. I will try out all the advice this evening and let you know how it works.

Do as much as you can in 2wd to learn your limits. When you get stuck put it in 4wd and crawl out.
