I'm having a problem with my yota, the dealership i took it to didn't know how to fix the problem. When I come to a stop at slower speeds the truck "stutters" it's like the brakes are catching intermittently, but I know it's not the breaks. Anybody out their know about this problem?

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Extended cab? Check the driveshaft center bearing for excessive play. [IMG] Check engine and trans mounts, too.

My old S10 did this, I took it somewhere and they trimmed the rotors and it was fixed. Costed $100 though..

Do you feel the brake pedal pulsate when it stutters?

This is what my '97 is doing (stock with ABS). Any further ideas?

Under normal braking, this is usually warped rotors. Your ABS will do this if it is a panic stop, but it normally won't with normal braking.

Interesting. I'll have to look into that. I have no other vibration when braking and the ABS engaging is inconsistent though sometimes very unexpected (normal braking into a turn or over a small bump...neither of which would I expect the wheels/brakes to lock up or skid). It seems overly sensitive. Thanks for your response!

Hate to bring up an older thread but did you ever figure out the issue?

This may be coincidental, but I haven't had the same over-sensitive ABS issue since replacing the suspension (Toytec Ultimate Lift with Dakar Leafs).

It is odd the problem i was having, just simply went away for these past couple months. I ended up dropping it off at a shop (didn't have time to look into it myself) they didn't find anything wrong with it themselves. So i kind of figured it worked itself out, but for the past month or so it has come back and is doing the same as it was before.
It's almost more of a "catch" now when just about at a full stop.
On gravel or on Slick roads the breaks will simply lock up. So i have to be sure to pump the breaks.
Getting a bit worried now being winter and snow is almost here.

I will set some time aside and check out the rotors, and everything else and see if i can't find something this time. I'll let you guys know. (Let me know if y'all have any more ideas as well)

If it is the rear brake shoes grabbing how would I go about fixing it?
