Did you wipe the bare metal down with that paint prep stuff? There is some sort of oily coating on bare metal that has to be removed first. It keeps bare metal from rusting right away. Plus you are talking about part that gets a full face force of the road and rocks. Powder Coat is definitely worth it for that. My ARB gets scratched when I bounce it off rocks but I get no chipping from the highway. I just touch it up with paint now to keep it fresh.

No I didn't use a product to do it but I just cleaned it off first. Oh well. I just touched it up. Would be nice to get it pc'd though. Would prevent it from chipping while driving around town and up to the mountains.

Feeding your dog from an elevated position is supposed to help with a condition wherein the stomach can twist and it can even be deadly. A good buddy of mine has a GSD at the vet right now in fact. Two nights ago he had to rush him to the vet at 1:00am where they put him under to do emergency life saving surgery. They had to staple his stomach to the inside of the cavity of his torso and remove some other organs. He's recovering now and will get to eat today and go home tomorrow. While I've never seen this particular approach I'm sure their thinking is along those lines.

Yes I agree. Ours have adjustable elevated bowls to keep their system in a line as they eat which is suggested to prevent what you just stated. That video approach is unique though. If you think about it the way that dog eats is the same as a bowl on the floor only in a vertical position. So I don't know if the owner is trying to prevent the same issues or if it is more for entertainment value. Smart dog for sure.

we had to do something similar with the Georgie the younger one. It was a weighted stainless steel ball put in the food bowl. Slowed her down just enough.

But then again doesn't your pooch vacuum up rocks too? :D

vacuum up rocks? ha ha haha i would hope not she just eats fast and hasnt learned her lesson about eating crab apples which destroy her stomach. She rips her toys apart and can chew through the tough kong bones like butter but she spits out the pieces

Its my favorite day of the year! I consider "summer" as between the two clock flips, longer hours after work to do shit (with light)!

Are crab apples bad for dogs? How about johnathan apples? Don't remember seeing apples on the list of items to keep your dogs away from. My dogs love apples. Always begging for a piece when I eat one and have their share when the apples are ripe and falling off the trea in the back.

Crab apples put a serious hurtin on my dogs stomach. For some reason she loves eating them, and once she has one in her mouth she runs around like its a game having me chase her. We used to have to put the shock collar on her just to go to the dog park by our house. Now we have a crab apple tree in our front yard which will be getting cut down here in the next couple months. She ate one about a month or so ago which is what cost me so much at the vet. Just introduces a bacteria to her that she cant handle

I dont necessarily know that they are bad for all dogs, i just know mine cant handle them

That list is looong as shit and ever-growing. You know what I feed my dogs to assure that I don't give them something on that list? Dog food.
