Because at 15-20 psi a skinny tire would flex more and my guess is flex is bad for racing. Easier to throw a bead for 1 but bead locks would fix that easily. Only other thing I've got is that the car could shift left or right more while cornering since the tire will be squishier.

All of that is a guess. Haha. I really don't know what the reason is for the wides up front.

F1 car stuff as nothing to do with ours

They run a very hard side wall to keep the tire from flexing and ballooning at high speeds.

    See above ^^

The run the wider tire for the most contact. But lower profile.

Side walls aren't even close to the same is my point.

You have to have the same psi. If you weigh 1000lbs, at 10 psi you will have 100 sq. Inches down. At 20 psi you only have 50 sq. Inches so you have half the contact area.

A skinny tire will have a longer but narrower contact pattern than a wide tire. If contact total is the same then longer pattern will have better lateral traction and a wider contact pattern will have better forward traction.

Tires can only gain so much width from flex. Stronger sidewalls will flex less also forcing the tire the lengthen the contact pattern as well. Unless it is strong enough to just hold the weight up itself.

Right but they aren't the same. Im not saying they are solid. But your basically trying to compare like..my tire to a low profile car tire..its stupid and pointless. They aren't the same thing.

I want to get in some snow and measure my contact pattern at different psi. The tread depth on my km2's is so deep that my tires have to be pretty much flat before the sidewall is touching the ground so I dont think my contact pattern widens out much. Tire flexes but the flex is still off the ground.
    What is your dads 0-60?

Could be the C vs E. I'll have to test it again to see.

Really? I think my 0-60 is 8-9 seconds, well was, not sure about now with the armor. I know of some stock 2nd gens that can run 7-8 second 0-60's with a good launch.
