    I have no clue.
Going to put my front license tag on my new Tacoma. Called the dealer and they said you just screw directly into the front bumper. Which if that is right, then fine. But it seems to me that it would be really easy to strip the bumper, round the holes, whatever. Not to mention it doesn't seem that stable either. How did you folks mount your front tags?

that is how you do it. There are two indentations on the front bumper where you are supposed to install it. Just don't turn the screws too tight.

Ya they just screw them in, but I don't like that idea, deforms the plastic.
I think if I had to do it I would drill them out, just to make it a little meater, then follow the above posts.

I asked my dealer for a bracket for the front plate, told me there is none. I don't like the idea since the bottom of the front plate vibrates directly on the paint of the bumper, I bent out the plate a little bit to hopefully prevent that from happening. Its a cheesy setup.

Mine ripped off. It pulled the nuts through the bumper. It was only attached at the top so I am not sure whether it happened offroading (how) or if some rouge wind caught t the wrong way

Just be aware that some Law Enforcement in SoCal are using this to pull over vehicles to check for DUI's.
My LBPD Swat buddy told me this after I was venting about being pulled over in Venice in our New Camry which had no plates since they hadn't arrived yet.
I had taken off the dealer frame on the rear and the front didn't get drilled.
I removed the temporary paper tag inside the windsheild to take some pictures and had it in the glovebox.
Passed an enforcement team with a newbie and HER training officer and they jumped behind me and lit me up.
Not speeding just two old folks out for a drive along the coast.
Dropped the front windows as they were tinted and didn't want to get popped for that.
Plates had been generated in the system even though I had not received them so she wrote me a fix it ticket.
Pissed me off but I kept my mouth shut incase they had seen the windows when we passed them.
Glad I hadn't stopped for lunch and maybe one margarita or I would have been doing the line dance.

Meh. Californication needs revenue. Bet they pull you over if you are 5 mph over the limit now. Move to NC, find America again.

Come on up to Nova Scotia Canada. No front plate required although if you are old it appears that you have to put the name of your pet on a cheesy plate and mount it

My wife's family hails from around Ashville I think.
Being heavy into cycling though it is hard to beat OC Kalifornia even with it's faults.
I prefer to stay and fight rather than abandon my home since 1963.

5100's all around, fronts at 1.75". TSB leaf pack + Toytec TSB AAL
I second this. Obviously it depends on your location, but even in Missouri it is a "requirement" to have a front plate on. There are plenty of vehicles driving around with no front plate. Mine is under the drivers seat.

When I bought the truck, I told the dealer that the deal was off if anyone puts a front plate on it before I had a chance to accept delivery. I dont want holes in my bumper for a license plate, it looks dump in my opinion.

I've seen situations where people have a front hitch on their truck, and they fab up a front plate bracket that uses the hitch. A bit of work if you dont have a front hitch on yet though.
