Look up welding tips and trick on YouTube. Everything you could ever need to know he has a video on how to do, and in Layman's terms. Best way to learn is just get your hands on a welder and mess around, if you can write cursive, most likely you can lay a nice bead!

    Anywho....

    So far I have

    Evan: cab mount chop
    Mike (650H1): cab mount chop
Alex: cab mount chop (same cab mount as tacoma?) and possibly alignment tabs....

Lets say two more people can be added to that list, tentatively. I have to see how much scrap I'll have after this next stage.

Sure! In fact tomorrow I may as well go buy a sheet of 12gauge (lots of scrap at turner steel so really cheap) seeing as our frames are 11. I'll get a price on that, that way I could do a few more. Also 3/16 would be a little overkill for this application. I'll take some measurements off my truck tomorrow, and this weekend I'll get some numbers off my friends 4runner (which I assume is identical) also his alignment tab things.

You're on the list! I'll cap it at 5 now until I figure out how much metal I'll need.

    Roger that ghost rider!

So it looks like from the local shop a 1'x2' 12gauge steel sheet is like $10... I'm going get some tomorrow if I can. If not after my winter break.. Or spring break... In a week. Should be a piece of cake getting it chopped up.

Cam, I don't know what thickness 12 gauge is, but my buddy did his cab mount last week (works as a machinist) and he said the metal is .130, essentially 1/8th.

Yeah 11gauge is about 1/8, 12gauge is just a tad thinner. It's like 3/32" I think. I'm probably wrong. I'll either go 10 or 12 gauge depending on what they have in the cutoff pile.

Cool! I'll get them off my truck, but if you get some that'll work too! Our alignment tabs are identical too so I'll design some for yah... After looking at a few other designs of course! Don't want to stumble blindly into wheel alignment I think lol

If you could get me the measurements off of yours that would be sweet! Also I wouldn't worry about cash. I'm sure I'll think of something I'll need help with haha *cough* sexual favors *cough* ....... Just kidding....
Yeah! If anything comes up I'll let ya know, but for now just spreading the TW love! I'm sure you guys would do the same if you had the means to do so. Hell I'd expect every person on this site to drive a couple hours to assist another member just for the sake of helping!
