Watch for Falling Snow....Dam-it!!!

Great skiing this week...but watch where you park in the mountain towns. Apparently this condo's HOA didnt feel it necessary to put snow guards on this roof-line (my assigned parking spot) even though they had guards on other roof-lines. Anyone know of a good body shop in the Denver area, preferably one that specializes in roofs?

Do you have full coverage on the truck?

I would also contact the resort to see if they would take responsibility

 

That SUCKS! Is your insurance covering it or do the condo rental folks cover it?

Most places have signage warning of falling snow and ice. You could argue because of the lack of the snow guards, they shouldnt have parking there, and that it is indeed their fault. Maybe.

Assigned spot you say? No signage? I'd take it up with the owners of the property.

 

Can you imagine if that landed on a person!? They should pay for the damages IMO.

roofs are not so bad

1) remove doors and glass

2) gut interior

3) sawzall old roof off at the pillars

4) weld up new roof, blast and primer

5) bondo seams

6) colormatch and paint

7) put back together

 

Looks like the resort should take responsibility for damages. They should consider it was your truck (unfortunate for you) than you or someone else getting crushed.

 

Damn, that snow did some damage! It seems as if the resort is responsible for damages with your truck, especially since they didn't have any snow guards. Awfully lucky no one was walking underneath instead.

I go that route first.

 

Or
1 remove windshield, roof rack and weather sealant
2 drill spot welds holding on roof panel
3 spot weld new roof panel
4 New weather sealant, paint to match

Don't look like there is and damage to the pillar structure, the roof panel is spot welded along the front/rear windows and the roof gutters, pop out the old, spot weld in the new. I used to do it all the time when installing roll cages in our STI rally cars

 

Yeah. Insurance covers it thankfully. And it's covered under comprehensive so only $100 deductible...$4200 for the repairs. But I agree, I got the number for the HOA of the unit so I'll give them a call and see what's up. I'm pretty sure if it was a person they would have died given the size of ice chunks I was pulling off the roof. And no...there were no signs saying "don't park here" or "watch for falling snow" or anything. Needless to say I'm more than frustrated. I hate seeing my truck all mangled.

On the "brighter"side, I duno about the convertible mod but a sunroof may be in the future.

 

Maybe take pictures showing no signs ? Hope it gets figured out.
