I've got a Cairns 1010 traditional. So I would need something like a blackjack mount to mount it on.

Use bike tire innertube for the helmet strap and most manufactured sprinkler wedges aint worth a shit. Make your own

gopros can only withstand like 200 something degrees fahrenheit (i thought about using mine) but that thing will melt or fog up the second you approach the seat of the fire. im not really a big fan on helmet cams anymore since my cap sat me down and lectured me on how much trouble i could possibly get in for videoing our fire scenes. also if youre looking for helmet flashlights. just buy an LED streamlight flashlight ($60) and the streamlight helmet strap ($5) thats what i use and i like it but the only bad thing is that it covers up some of your reflectors

I am looking at getting an led streamlight polytac light with a blackjack mount. I may make my own mount though havn't decided. I also just ordered a foxfire helmet strap. Its a glow in the dark. You bring up a good point about trouble with recording. I have also thought about the liability of recording scenes.

i love that polytac light. i dont have it but ive had partners use it next to me and theyre awesome and exactly about the recording...our SOGs say we have to wear SCBA on trash can fires and if an officer were to see a video of our typical trash can fires you will see the SCBA pack safely mounted in the apparatus :D

What I like about the polytac is it is fairly cheap. One can be had for less than $40 bucks. Burn it up I aint out that much. I'm still debating.

The one I put up says good up to 950f, so should last. I agree on time and place to record issue, training is what I was thinking and other controlled burns.

my helmet has the faceshield and I am thinking about milling a mount that bolts under the brim. Basically the 2 screws that hold the faceshield mount on. On one side make the mount attach on the underside.
