Morning all, good news that Lynn is doing much better. It sounds like she needs a lot of TLC for awhile and after she is recuperated, the two of you need a vacation:D...Give Lynn my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

On a positive note I started the ball rolling for the summer vacation to Italy yesterday. Booked the airfare, hotels, transportation to and from the airports and one excursion trip.

The wife and I picked out three more excursions last night and looked at railfare between cities.

We will be gone from the 22nd of July and returning on the 1st of August.

Sounds great Tom, where in Italy are you going? We have been to Rome, Venice, Florence, Pisa and many of the smaller towns in between. Great time on vacation. The wife has been busy planning our next vacation in May. Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, Rhodes, Cappadocia and Istanbul. May 10th to June 1. Really looking forward to it.

Going to Rome, Florance and Venice. If I can locate where my dad landed at Anzio I would like to go there as well.

    Jim:
If you can that would be a big help. As you know the beach head was over 11 miles wide. My dad was in Signal and depending on how his wnit was deployed the task could be impossible. I have tried a couple of times and also reached out to the 57th Signal Battalion with little sucess.

My dad was in Company "A" of the 57th Signal Battalion. He carried a radio on the inital landing day.

As much as the press, congress and the President of the United States would like us to believe that Social Security is an entitlement program it really is not in that you paid into the program for your entire working carreer, Unless you were a Federal Government employee, which had it's own retirement program, and as such you are not eligible to receive Social Security benifits.

Social Security is supposed to be a supplement to your retirement savings not your entire retirement. Woe to the person that did not save for retirement.

If congress had left the program alone and did not take funds when there was a surplus back in the 60's, 70's and 80's it would be a lot more solvent today. But you cannot go back and change the actions of congress. Congress should have upped the payment ceiling into Socal Security more than they did back in the 90's and in to the new century.

At lease now Congress will be looking at the Social Security program to help it remain solvent for years to come. I actually have little faith that they will get the job done correctly. To do this right all age groups will need to be pissed about the cuts and extra money that will need to be paid.

Too bad congress can be relected up to the day they die*. Term limits would make these types of changes easier on congress.

    * Unless you live in Missouri then you can be elected if you are already passed away. ;)

It's not being able to afford going on vacation, it's making the time!
I've done less of everything since I've been on pension. Maby owning a house and property has something to do with that. Every time I turn around something needs to be done, and then there's the vehicles, the boats, weedwackers, chain saws, garden tractor, fishing, hunting, etc. etc!!! :goingcrazy:
And then there's the to do lists, that keep getting longer and longer.
    AND!!! :typing: isn't helping
At least I don't have to work on this: :argue::angrygirl:! :boom:

Replaced the IPC, Instrument Panel Cluster, in the family car this morning. This is the second time the gas gauge has crapped out. It is fixed now!!!

Morning all, or is it still night...lost an hour last night and my internal clock said "Hey time to get up" 6:45 but my body is saying it's still 5:45:rolleyes:...
Hi Tom, how many days do plan to spend in each city? You might be better off making reservations for some of the attractions that you want to see or you will probably be waiting in long lines to get in. If you and the Missus have any questions, please feel free to ask.:D

    Carl:
The gas gauge is really a small motor. Seems that they wear out after 4 years and need to be replaced. I ponied up and sent the original cluster off to be refurbished. All the motors, 6 of them, amd all the lamps were replaced. The unit now hase a lifetime warrenty. Hopefully I will not need to use the warrenty.

I was glad the wiper blades attached to the float that is part of the fuel pump assembly was not causing the problem.

Normally, but not for people that know what they are doing and can use the internet, you would have to buy the entire fuel pump assembly which cost almost $300. However there is a TSB replacement part for the Chevy Tahoe, known problem, that cost only $40. You would then need to remove the wiper blade from the new part and install it on the existing fuel pump assembly. This is not that hard it is just a PITA.

Do you have a GM H Body car that is having problems?
